The regular meeting of the Auxiliary to Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2948 was called to order at 7 p.m. Nov. 10 by president Linda Chezick. Eight members were present.

The opening ritual was held. Roll call of officers conducted with Irene Anderson, chaplain, pro-tem and Beth Johnson, conductress, pro-tem.

There were no petitions for membership.

Minutes from the October meeting, General Orders and correspondence was read.

The treasurer’s report was filed, subject to audit.

Committee reports were given on Americanism, Youth Activities and Veterans and Family Support.

Programs at Falls Elementary School, St. Thomas School and Indus School were planned for Veterans Day, Nov. 11. Border Patrol and Customs invited veterans and auxiliary members to lunch from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Border Patrol Headquarters. The Elks Club served breakfast beginning at 7:30 a.m.

Calendars for 2016 are still available for sale for $20.

Chezick reported that the 990 was accepted in August.

A donation of five pies to the Thanksgiving dinner at the Elks was approved.

A trailer for veterans and auxiliary members will be available to ride in the parade Nov. 27. Participants are to meet at the Post at 5:30 p.m.

The auxiliary will ring bells for the Salvation Army from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Dec. 4 at SuperOne.

The kids’ Post Christmas party is planned for 6 p.m. Dec. 14.

Shopping with children at Kmart is set for 8 a.m. Dec. 12. Members are needed to assist children with shopping and gift wrapping.

The charter was draped for departed members Mavis Tanem, who passed away Sept. 16; Nikkie Holden, Oct. 10; and Shirley Wicklund, Oct. 18.

It was decided to not have dinner out in December.

Door prize was won by Irene Anderson.

The meeting concluded at 8:20 p.m. with the closing ceremonies.

The next gathering will be at 7 p.m. Dec. 8.
