The regular meeting of the Auxiliary to Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2948 was called to order at 7 p.m. April 12 by president Linda Chezick with nine members present.

The opening ritual was held. Roll call of officers was conducted with Irene Anderson, Chaplain, pro-tem and Beth Johnson, Conductress and Guard, pro-tem. There were no petitions for membership.

Minutes from the March meeting were read and corrected. General Orders and Correspondence was read. Treasurer’s report was filed, subject to audit.

Reports were given on Youth Activities and Americanism by Irene Anderson. Upcoming events include: April 21, Bingo at Good Samaritan Society-International Falls; May 1, Loyalty Days; May 12, serving pies at Littlefork Care Center. Dates have not yet been finalized for Poppys and Memorial Day services.

Chezick reported on Veterans and Family Support. Over 80 people attended the Vietnam Veterans Breakfast and veterans were given green light bulbs.

Membership report was given by Pat Delapp. Eight members have dues outstanding and several reminders have been sent. Members not paid by June will be dropped from membership. Should any dropped member wish to re-join the Auxiliary, they will have to start from the DD-214.

The audit report for the months January through March was read by Kathy Sikkila.

A motion was made to suspend Tacos on Mondays at the Post beginning April 25 until fall; motion carried.

The free will offering from the Vietnam Veterans Breakfast in March will be donated to the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall. Tips collected will be donated to the Mighty Mustang wrestlers who volunteered that day.

Donations were made from the Auxiliary to March of Dimes/Walking for Babies, VFW National Home Food Drive and Museum Fund, KCC-TV and the Koochiching County VSO for the upcoming Vietnam Veterans Welcome Home Parade May 7.

Sue Dion donated 17 shirt protectors that will be sent to Silver Bay Veterans Home.

District 8 Loyalty Days will be April 29 through May 1 in Pengilly.

Election of officers for the 2016-17 year was conducted with the following nominated: President, Pat Delapp; senior vice, Kathy Sikkila; junior vice, Diane Kelly; treasurer, position is open; Conductress, Lori Nicodemus; Guard, Linda Chezick; Chaplain, Irene Anderson; and Trustee No. 3, Lori Nicodemus.

Door prize was won by Irene Anderson.

The meeting concluded at 8:55 p.m. with closing ceremonies.

The next meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. May 10.
