The regular meeting of the Ladies Auxiliary to Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2948 was called to order at 7 p.m. Sept. 8 by senior vice, Kathy Sikkila, with eight members present.
The opening ritual was held. Roll call of officers was conducted with Tina Hofius, Guard, pro-tem.
There were no petitions for membership.
Minutes from the August meeting, correspondence and the General Orders were read.
The treasurer’s report was given to members present and was filed subject to audit.
Reports were given on Americanism and Youth Activities by Irene Anderson. POW/MIA Day is Sept. 18 and a flag will be donated to a local business. The blood drive had 48 donate blood. Pies will be served Oct. 1 at Good Samaritan Society-International Falls.
Linda Chezick reported on Veterans and Family Support. Sept. 27 is Gold Star Mothers Day. Two local mothers are to be recognized.
The membership report was given by Pat Delapp. Men are eligible to join the Auxiliary and the new form for membership designates male or female,
Sikkila gave the scholarship report. Forms have been dropped off at schools.
Members are unable to host Bingo at Good Samaritan Society in September. A chairperson is needed to organize the monthly event.
The Fall Conference will take place in St. Cloud. Baskets and donations are being sought for the silent auction.
Megan Boe, acting treasurer, was unable to accept the office of treasurer.
Nominations for treasurer were held and Irene Anderson accepted the position. Nominations for Auxiliary president were conducted and Chezick accepted the office. Membership office was accepted by Delapp. The offices of Chaplain and Conductress still need to be filled.
Donations were made to purchase a deck box and to the Halloween Party for Silver Bay Veterans Home.
Help is needed with Tacos on Mondays. Those able to assist should contact Chezick.
In October, 8th District President Kathy Randall will inspect the Auxiliary. Members are encouraged to attend and meet her.
Door prize was won by Sikkila.

The next meeting is planned for 7 p.m. Oct. 13.
