The Icebox Radio Theater of International Falls will perform a live music and variety show Oct. 27 as part of the IBRT’s “Harvest Party of the Air.”
The show begins with a pre-show at 5 p.m., followed by an Internet broadcast from 6 to 7 p.m. on www.soundstagesradio.com.
Musical guest Sloughgrass, the family bluegrass band from Birchdale, will join Myron Hawrylak and the Cross Border Orchestra to provide music for the festivities, while Jeff Adams and the Icebox Radio Actor’s Guild will present an assortment of autumn-themed skits and plays.
This event will be more than just a radio show. The International Falls Evangelical Covenant Church youth group will hold a carnival on the Backus stage starting at 3:30 p.m. There will also be a Halloween costume contest on-stage around 5:30 p.m., and a pumpkin carving contest. Admission to the carnival is free, but ticket sales will be a fundraiser for the youth group. Admission to the show is $10 for adults, $5 for kids, or $25 per family.
The main play of the evening will be “The Tunnel of Trembling Terror,” a tribute to the old Scooby Doo cartoon series.
In the story, a group of teen ghost hunters come to Backus to investigate persistent ghostly sightings, only to uncover a new mystery around the walled-up tunnel between Backus and the Forestland Annex building.
