The International Falls Lions Club met Feb. 1. President Dick Schaak opened the meeting with the Pledge of Allegiance followed by the table prayer.
Karen Briese read the minutes and Serene Milette gave the treasurers report.
Members were reminded that Mid-winter Convention would be Feb. 5-7 in Duluth. Several will represent our club. We selected 10 Parade of Green organizations to donate to at $250 each.
We welcomed Caryn Noland as a new member. She will be an asset as we work to assist the blind.
It was noted the magnifier we purchased and placed at Woodland Apartments is being used by people reading their mail.
Briese suggested we have a table at the Home Show April 16-17 and do a diabetes screening. She is also looking into having a health fair at Backus.
The club would like to help anyone wanting a service dog. They can help people by alerting them to the door bell, phone ring, picking up items from the floor and can be trained to sense illness such as low blood sugars.
The lunch wagon will be at the Fishing Derby the last Sunday of February. See us for your hot dogs, brats and coffee.
The next meeting will be at 6 p.m. March 1 at the Holiday Inn.
