Summer Reading! Tomorrow is the last day of school and that means it is time to start summer reading. The summer reading program for children is “Dream Big, Read!” and the library will begin handing out bags tomorrow. Any and all children in grades 6 and below are encouraged to come to the public library and pick up their own summer reading bag.

I have visited all the classes and talked about the program and the wonderful performers we have coming in this summer. The first will be Wednesday, June 6, at 10:30 a.m. Climb Theater will be here to perform “Raven and Grandmother Mouse.” The library is not usually open on Wednesday mornings but this is when we could get them, so come enjoy a Wednesday morning at the library and get your summer reading stuff.

The teen and adult summer reading programs will begin on Monday, June 4, at least we’ll put out the bookmarks. Most of the prize containers won’t be out for another week or so. Sorry, but I’m running behind this year, I’ve had two graduations this month. But you can start reading and filling out bookmarks and just hold onto your bookmarks until I get my act together.

Monday, June 11, is the next photo deadline for “Pictures and Pens” our photography and writing contest. Please submit 8x10 photos that tell a story to the front desk of the library to be eligible to win $50. The first story deadline is Thursday, June 28. This is a change. The judges would like to meet that evening to decide a winner before holiday week. To view winning photographs visit the library blog at http://ifallslibrary.blogspot.com or in the library lobby.

Teens and adults, mark your calendars! We have a program on dream interpretation on Wednesday, June 13, at 6 p.m. in the library meeting room. This fun, informative program will maybe help you understand the dreams you dream. Join Craig Croethe as he provides an overview of the types of dreams, dream significance, and the symbolic language of dreams.

Stories in the Park will also begin on Wednesday, June 13, at 6 p.m. at the east end of Smokey Bear Park. Come join us for 30 to 40 minutes of stories and more about owls. The community concerts in the park continue on Wednesday evenings this summer at 7 p.m. so make an evening of it and come for stories and music each Wednesday evening.

Tuesday afternoon, June 12, from 3 to 5 p.m. teens are welcome to come and enjoy the gaming equipment and refreshments. New games have been purchased are will be available. Thursday, June 14, from 10 a.m. to noon the gaming equipment will be available for families, along with a selection of board games.

Each Tuesday the library will put out craft supplies for a craft project. Supplies will be available all day long, or until we run out of supplies.

A full calendar of events is available in the summer reading bags or at the library.
