The regular meeting of the Ladies Auxiliary to Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2948 was called to order by president Linda Chezick at 5 p.m. June 12 with 12 members present.
The opening ritual was held, roll call of officers conducted and guard was Pat De Lapp, pro-tem.
There were two petitions for membership: Pat Thorpe, whose eligibility is her husband, Ray Thorpe, a member of the post; and Kathyrn Sikkila, whose eligibility is her father, Clarence Remillard. A voice vote was taken to accept these women as members.
International Falls Post 2948 will host the 8th District meeting Aug. 18-19. Volunteers will be needed to assist with the Saturday dinner and Sunday lunch for the attendees.
The charter was draped in memory of Inez Turnquist who passed away June 7.
A rummage sale is set for July 21. Donations will be accepted and members are needed to work at the sale.
There will be a float/trailer for members to ride in the Fourth of July Parade. Those interested should meet at the post at noon. Following the parade, a sloppy joe lunch will be served for a $5 donation. The lunch is open to the public.
Donations were made to the Post to help with the cost of installing new doors, Hospice for the butterfly release, Koochiching County Senior Center, Friends of the Library and the Susan G. Komen Cancer Walk.
Door prize was won by Irene Anderson and De Lapp won the Lifetime membership drawing.
The meeting closed at 5:40 with the closing ceremonies.
The next meeting will be at 7 p.m. July 10.
Following the meeting, the group car pooled to Thunderbird Lodge for a meal.
