Ladies Auxiliary to Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2948 gathers for meeting

The opening ritual was held. Roll call of officers was conducted with Irene Anderson, conductress, pro-tem and Pat DeLapp, guard, pro-tem.

There was one petition for membership, Nickie Holden, whose eligibility is her husband, Ivan Holden. A voice vote was taken to accept her as a new member.

The minutes of the March meeting, correspondence and the General Orders were read. The treasurer’s report was read and filed subject to audit.

The charter was draped in memory of Signe Hardwig who passed away March 30.

Standing Rules Committee meet and amended rules were read. Changes were made to dues, per capita, youth prize amounts, door prize, attendance donation, contingency fund and membership drawings.

Upcoming events include Loyalty Days April 27-29 in Gilbert and May 2-4 Poppy Sales.

Election of officers was conducted for 2012-2013 with the following elected: president, Linda Chezick; senior vice, Irene Anderson; junior vice, Michele Dahlin; treasurer, Pat DeLapp; secretary, Beth Johnson; chaplain, Wanda Linder; conductress, Missy Hoppe; and soloist, Marguerite Kostiuk.

Donations were made to the Lake Superior Fishing Trip for Veterans, March of Dimes, Freedom Flight Balloon trip, Silver Bay Veterans Home and the Honor Flight. Proceeds from the Vietnam Veterans Appreciation Breakfast were donated to the Vietnam Veterans Memorial.

Door prize was won by Linda Chezick.

The next meeting will be at 7 p.m. May 8.
