The regular meeting of the Ladies Auxiliary to Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2948 was called to order by president Linda Chezick at 7 p.m. Sept. 11, with nine members present.

The opening ritual was held, roll call of officers was conducted with Irene Anderson as Chaplain, pro-tem and Pat DeLapp, guard, pro-tem.

There were no petitions for membership. The minutes of the August meeting along with correspondence were read. The treasure’s s report was read and filed subject to audit.

In recognition of POW/MIA day Sept.  21, a flag will be donated to a local business.

Bingo will start Sept. 20 at Good Samaritan Society-International Falls, and volunteers are needed.

September is Prostate Cancer Awareness month. Blue ribbon pins and patches are available.

Awards given to Post 2948 at the 8th District Meeting were read and were also published in the newspaper.

Chezick thanked everyone who assisted with the 8th District Meeting/meals, the Stand Down and the party at the Post for area nursing homes.

Leftover rummage sale items were taken to Second Act and Never Ending Consignment. Items were sold and monies received from both places.

A Jam Session to raise funds for the Honor Flight is set for Sept. 22. Michele Dahlin will work in the kitchen serving a sloppy joe meal starting at 5:30 p.m. with the jam session at 7:30.

Gold Star Parents Day is Sept. 30. Pat DeLapp will recognize them with a card.

Boxes will be filled with items to send to local soldiers in Afghanistan.

Donations were made to the Armed Forces Service Center at the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport, Project America Run/Mike Ehredt, the Community Cancer Walk and “Dear American Heroes”/Richard Glasgow.

A moment of silence was observed in remembrance of lives lost Sept. 11, 2001.

Door prize was won by Debbie Lutgen.

The meeting ended at 7:55 p.m. with closing ceremonies.

The next meeting will be conducted at 7 p.m. Oct. 9.
