The regular meeting of the Ladies Auxiliary to Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2948 was called to order by president Linda Chezick at 7 p.m. May 8 with 11 members present.
The opening ritual was held, roll call of officers conducted and guard was Pat DeLapp, pro-tem.
Minutes of the April meeting, along with correspondence, was read. The treasurer’s report and audit report were read.
Membership was reported doing great; currently at 104.94 percent.
Marguerite Kostiuk asked that everyone who has borrowed wheelchairs, walkers, canes, etc., to please return them to her, if they are no longer being used. She will put a notice in the newspaper also.
Bingo is planned for May 17 at Good Samaritan Center-International Falls. Volunteers are asked to arrive by 2:15 p.m.
The auxiliary served pies May 10 at Littlefork Care Center.
Over 75 people were served at the may 6 breakfast at the Post Home. Part of the proceeds from this breakfast will be donated to improvements needed at Scheela Field. Members of the baseball teams have been helping serve at the breakfasts.
Memorial Day services will be conducted May 27. Members should meet at 8 a.m. at the Post Home to carpool to area cemeteries.
District meetings will take place Aug. 18-19 in International Falls.
A Stand Down at Backus Community Center is planned for Aug. 29.
Irene Anderson was the installing officer for the purpose of the installation of the 2012-2013 officers. Installation was conducted for the elected and appointed officers of Peter Graham Post 2948, Ladies Auxiliary to the VFW.
The meeting was closed with closing ceremonies. The door prize was won by Edna Doris.
The next meeting will be June 12 at 5 p.m. (note time change). Following the meeting members, will carpool to Thunderbird Lodge for dinner.
