The regular meeting of the Ladies Auxiliary to Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2948 was called to order at 7 p.m. July 10 by president Linda Chezick with 14 members present.
The opening ritual was held, roll call of officers conducted and guard was Pat DeLapp, pro-tem. There were no petitions for membership.
The minutes of the May and June meetings were read and stand approved as corrected. Correspondence was read as well as the General Orders. The treasurer’s report was read and filed, subject to audit.
DeLapp reported that membership renewals are coming in daily and more members are electing to become life members.
The Veterans and Family Support as well as the Legislative Report was given by Chezick.
Irene Anderson reported on Americanism, youth activities and scholarships.
The Cancer Aid and Research report was given by Michele Dahlin. The jewelry and clothing fundraiser will showcase the sunflower.
At the department meeting in Rochester, Chezick received a medallion and plaque as she was selected one of nine outstanding auxiliary presidents in the state of Minnesota.
The auxiliary will provide lunches at the Stand Down at Backus Aug. 29.
Plans are underway for a jam session at the Post Home Sept. 22 with proceeds to benefit the Honor Flight.
Donations were made to the VFW baseball team, Rainy Lake Orchestra and Tom Knoll.
The door prize was won by Rose Rooker.
The meeting concluded at 8:25 with closing ceremonies.
The next meeting will be at 7 p.m. Aug. 14.
