The International Falls Lions Club met May 2. President, Dick Schaak opened the meeting with the Pledge of Allegiance and Betty Villalta offered the table prayer.
Special fishing stories were told in memory of Charter member Ron Laurion, who had been a continual member for more than 50 years. He left us with the knowledge of cotton candy. All proceeds from cotton candy on the Fourth of July and any other function will go towards a scholarship in his memory.
Karen Briese read the minutes. There was no treasurers report.
Thank you notes were received from Jessie Laurion and the Salvation Army.
Action was taken on the letter from Hannah and Hailey Lehman who are going to Camp Needlepoint. $150 was donated to each person going to this camp for children with diabetes.
Correspondence was received from the Little League Association, Minnesota Eye Bank and Minnesota Lions All Stars with tickets for the games.
A white ballot was cast for the third reading of the nominations of officers. Rick Reed was appointed to fill an open seat on the board of directors. Other officers will remain for another year.
A permit to hold a raffle is in progress.
A lengthy discussion was held regarding the menu for the Fourth of July lunch wagon.
Some new food items were suggested.
The June 6 meeting will be a potluck at the home of Mary Decker. The grills will be hot — bring your own meat (BYOM), and a dish to share.
