In a rare circumstance, the Border Concert Association will be opening one of its seasonal concerts to 150 lucky individuals.

On a first come, first serve basis, 150 free tickets will be available for the 7:30 p.m., March 7 presentation of “Circus INcognitus,” featuring the one-man acrobat show of Jamie Adkins.

Tickets will not be available until Friday at noon.

The Arrowhead Library System is credited for the free tickets to this concert. Attendance outside of BCA’s regular membership is usually not possible. The libraries thought it a good idea to use legacy funds to encourage attendance at performances in the region, and the BCA is one of those participating. The gesture has also given seats at performances in Virginia, Hibbing, Grand Rapids and Duluth.

The timing is perfect since this particular performance is great for families, say BCA directors. Adkins’ zany but highly skillful acts in the air include catching grapes on a fork, popping ping-pong balls, walking on ropes and juggling — not to forget his main feats of balance — and imbalance.

The presentation is appropriate for children of all ages.

The New York Times said, “Though Mr. Adkins’ best routines draw oohs and ahs, he is just as successful at drawing laughs.”

It is the third show in the BCA concert series, normally open only to those who purchase season tickets.

People interested in attaining the special tickets for this performance may pick them up at the International Falls Public Library, beginning at noon on Friday. The tickets must be shown at the door the evening of the show.

This endeavor was funded in part or in whole with money from the vote of the people of Minnesota on Nov. 4, 2008, which dedicated funding to preserve Minnesota's arts and cultural heritage.
