The October meeting of the International Falls Lions Club was conducted Oct. 4 at the home of Karen and Dick Briese. It was a fish fry, potluck event with Dick Briese as the master chef.
Three local girls, Olivia Besch and Hannah and Hayley Lehman, told of their experience at Camp Needlepoint, a summer camp for diabetics. They gave a great presentation, with handouts and a question and answer period. They also explained the use of the diabetic pump. The Lions Club helped to sponsor the girls at camp.
Discussion took place concerning the Lions Health Fair, which took place recently at the International Mall. Many community members took advantage of the vision, hearing, cholesterol and glucose screening opportunities. There were also many others informational booths. The fair was deemed to have been a success.
Members of the Lions clubs in Canada were also present. They discussed some of their fund raising activities. Karen Briese provided door prizes, which were drawn by several lucky people. A good time was had by all.
The next meeting of the Lions Club will be at 6 p.m. Nov. 1 at Almost Lindy’s.
