A boy was born today at La Verendrye Hospital, Fort Frances, to Mr. and Mrs. Garland Noggle, 614 Fifth Ave., 6 pounds, 6 ounces.
Army Pvt. Conley H. Anderson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Anderson, Ranier, recently was assigned to the newly activated 1st Armored division at Fort Hood, Texas.
While dining at the Parkway Cafe Sunday evening, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Kubis of Loman were delightfully surprised when Mrs. Hannah Bergstrom and the staff sang “Happy Anniversary” and Mrs. Bergstrom presented the couple with a decorated cake.
Mrs. Katherine Cecil Stish, 71, a resident of the Falls for 25 years, died Saturday at her home. Death was attributed to a heart attack.

A daughter was born today at Falls Memorial Hospital to Mr. and Mrs. Orvin Thortson, French Addition, weight, 7 pounds, 12 ounces.
A son was born today at Falls Memorial Hospital to Mr. and Mrs. D.J. McCarthy, 1006 Second St., weight, 6 pounds, 10 ounces.
A daughter was born today at Falls Memorial Hospital to Mr. and Mrs. John Fraik, Banen Apartments, weight, 5 pounds, 5 ounces. Name chosen, Catherine Ann.
Mr. and Mrs. Bill McGraw, former Falls residents who now own and operate the Gopher Court and Cafe in Magdalena, N.M., were recently honored by the Magdalena High School paper for their support of the school basketball team.

Ransome E. Barnes, administrator of the Koochiching County welfare and relief program, tendered his resignation at a special meeting of the welfare board Wednesday afternoon and will leave May 1 to accept a similar post for Itasca county at Grand Rapids.
Pat Yaunick is employed at the Schulz Bakery in International Falls.
Paul Malone, son of Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Malone, 520 Fifth St., left Minneapolis Tuesday enroute for the United States Naval base at San Diego.
Miss Catherine Withrow, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. M.E. Withrow, 901 Riverside Drive, enlisted in the Army last week.
