Henry and Carolyn Youso are proud to announce the birth of their son, Robert John, 9 pounds, 3 1/2 ounces, 22 inches, born March 27.

Dave and Nancy Deedrick are proud to announce the birth of their son, Jeremy Alan. He weighed 6 pounds, 4 1/4 ounces, 19 1/2 inches long and was born March 28.

City Clerk Sterling Houglum has been getting ballots ready for Tuesday’s city election — the first city contest in which young people 18 and over are eligible to vote.

Arthur (Art) C. Larson Jr. leaves today for the Grand Bahama Island to become general manager in charge of logging for the Out Island Timber Company, Ltd., a Bahamian corporation. By this move, Art terminated 14 1/2 years with Boise Cascade Corporation.

A daughter was born yesterday at Falls Memorial Hospital to Mr. and Mrs. Earl Wicklund.

50 YEARS AGO

Among the 36 models displaying the newest in spring fashions at the seventh annual style show were Judy Anderson, 10, in a blue nylon from the Jack and Jill shop; Chet Lindvall in up-to-the-minute fashion from Johnson’s Clothing; and Mrs. Art Kaufman, in blue, also in a dress from the Specialty shop, offset by a black sailor from Lee Hat Shop.

Dr. David McQuoid of St. Paul informed Dr. R. G. Rowe this week that he had definitely decided to come to Littlefork to practice medicine as soon as he completed his internship at Ancker Hospital in St. Paul on June 30.

Mrs. Theresa LeFear, a former Falls resident, has informed The Journal that she has recently entered a nursing home at Ticonderoga, N.Y., due to a fall. Mrs. LeFear lived here for many years and has been a subscriber to The Journal since 1919.

Meredith Koski, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Onnie Koski, Cozy Court Motel, who was injured in a fall in Seattle, Wash., entered the Elizabeth Kenny Institute last week for therapy.

60 YEARS AGO

A son was born today at Falls Memorial Hospital to Mr. and Mrs. Gustav Holm, 1139 Eighth Ave., weight, 6 pounds, 12 ounces. Name chosen, Mark Douglas.

Leaving the Falls High School faculty after the end of the present term are Miss Shirley O’Keefe, English instructor, and Gordon Paschka, football and basketball coach.

Other instructors who have resigned include Miss Gwendolyn Beatty and Miss Audrey Saari, primary teachers at Forestland School; Mrs. Orin Green and Mrs. Mildred Petritz, intermediate instructors, Miss Sylvia Alich and Miss Beaga Harris, primary, at the Alexander Baker School.

A daughter was born today at Falls Memorial Hospital to Mr. and Mrs. John L’heureux, 1412 Second Ave., weight, 6 pounds, 9 ounces. Name chosen, Patricia Jeralyn.

70 YEARS AGO

Uncle Sam has laid down his own send-in-a-box-top rules for saving precious tin: From now on, to buy a tube of toothpaste or shaving cream, you must turn in an old tube. Retailers are to be held responsible for enforcing the tube trade-ins by purchasers of shaving cream and toothpaste.

Gus Leluan recently announced the opening of the P. & G. Liquor store, which is being operated on Highway 53 in South International Falls.

Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Growette, Carson-Lupie Addition, announce the birth of a son in the Northern Minnesota Hospital April 1. Michael James are the names chosen for the child.

Mr. and Mrs. Robert T. Rogers and sons, Carroll and Kenneth, plan to leave Friday morning by motor for Los Angeles. Mr. Rogers has obtained a six-month leave of absence from his duties at the U.S. Customs office in Ranier for the sake of his health. The family plans to reside in the Los Angeles area through the summer and fall months.
