Falls area resident Donita Moone will appear at the sixth annual horse expo to be conducted Saturday and Sunday at the Minneapolis Auditorium. Moone, who is the reigning Western Saddle Club Association queen, will model western wear during fashion shows Saturday and Sunday.

Mr. and Mrs. Art Pearson were Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Valio Johnson and helped the Johnsons celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary.

A boy was born today at Falls Memorial Hospital to Mr. and Mrs. Eckhard Werner.

Raymond Shoquist Jr., a seaman on the U.S.S. Current ARS-22, arrived home April 5 from Pearl Harbor for a 30-day leave with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Shoquist Sr., 609 Ninth St., and other relatives and friends in the area.

Pvt. Duane Frahm returned to his Army duties at Fort Knox, Kent., on Sunday.

50 YEARS AGO

Ivan C. Wagner, 63, Falls businessman, died unexpectedly today. Mr. Wagner was stricken as he was leaving his home, 914 Ninth St., this morning to open his variety store for the day. Mr. Wagner, assisted by his wife, operated Wagner’s Variety Store, 345 Third St.

Winners in the various weight divisions of the first Falls High School wrestling tournament are Floyd White, Ray Moone, Dave Stenberg, Ralph Terzolo, James Thompson, Andy Piekarski, Duane Johnson, Sid Erickson and John Gushulak.

The District 361 School Board recently accepted the resignations of Patricia Thalenhorse, senior high shorthand instructor; Joan Ellig Bugni, senior high home economics; Ethel Dragseth, first grade; Barbara Ann Gates, second grade; Mrs. Bonnie Lemieux, fourth grade; Mrs. Shirley Stern, fifth grade; and Mrs. Vera Tuey, kindergarten.

Marshall Dumas, manager of the Moose Club, announced today that the club would be closed from 12 noon to 5 p.m. in observance of Good Friday.

A daughter was born April 8 to Mr. and Mrs. LeRoy Crandall, South International Falls, weight, 6 pounds, 4 ounces. Name chosen, Sherren Kay.

Election day was a momentous day for Mr. and Mrs. Marlo Coran, 507 Ninth St., although the second ward alderman was not a candidate on this year’s balloting. The Corans were presented with a 7-pound, 10-ounce girl who was born at Falls Memorial Hospital at 5:10 yesterday morning. They named her Christine Lenay.

A daughter was born today at Falls Memorial hospital to Mr. and Mrs. William Corrin, 426 Third street, weight, 8 pounds, 3 ounces.

70 YEARS AGO

Mr. and Mrs. William Morvel, Harlowe’s Cabins, are parents of a son born yesterday at the Northern Minnesota Hospital. William Arthur are the names chosen for the child.

Mrs. Celia Bates left yesterday for Lakewood, Ohio, where she will make her home. Mrs. Bates has been a nurse at the Northern Minnesota Hospital.

Victor Costley, millwright helper in the Mando woodroom, signed up for duty with Uncle Sam’s Navy Monday.

Tony Kalar, kraft mill, and Arnold Anderson, welder in the maintenance department, left this week to enter the military.
