Falls native Dave Dahlen broke away from a pack of three other riders with a mile and a half left, and crossed the finish line first to win the third annual Voyageur Bike Race held Sunday morning in the Falls.

Mrs. Lloyd Arveson, the former Mae Drechsler, was the guest of honor at a post-nuptial shower recently in St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.
A native of the Falls, Richard Glennie, 24, today joined the staff of The Daily Journal as sports editor.
Mrs. E. L. Holt is the winner of the Sweepstakes trophy in the flower class and the “Lily Taschuk Memorial” trophy for receiving the highest total points in arrangements at the flower show held Wednesday in the Union Hall.

Mr. and Mrs. George Bahr Jr., 1113 Sixth St., announce the forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Kaye Diane, to Donald Leo, son of Mr. and Mrs. Leo Carlson, Highway 53.
Bonnie Gardner, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Walker Gardner, celebrated her seventh birthday.
Mr. and Mrs. Lee Valsvik were guests of honor at a steak fry recently at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Gust, 816 1/2 Ninth St. Mr. and Mrs. Valsvik and their two children, Randall Lee and Brenda Marie, will leave this week to make their home in Williams, where Mr. Valsvik has accepted the position of industrial arts instructor in the Williams school system.
George Boyum, 11-year-old son of Mrs. Vivian Boyum, returned home from Falls Memorial Hospital where he was confined two weeks. He received injuries when he was accidentally run over by a tractor at his home. He has a broken leg and shoulder blade and severe bruises, but is getting along nicely.

A daughter was born today at Falls Memorial Hospital to Mr. and Mrs. Ingvald Kucera, South International Falls. Weight, 7 pounds, 12 ounces.
Mrs. Gene Koerbitz was guest of honor at a stork shower at the home of Mrs. Richard Thayer, 212 1/2 Fourth Ave.
Marlene Dugas, 16, underwent an operation for appendicitis at Falls Memorial Hospital. She is getting along fine today.
Mrs. Winnifred Hoppert is returning to the Falls High faculty after a year’s absence. She is a graduate of Hamline University, St. Paul, with a major in English and minors in French and journalism.
70 YEARS AGO
Mrs. Arthur Eggman, who will leave here Sunday with her family to make their home in Seattle, Wash., was guest of honor at a party last evening. Hostesses were Mrs. E.C. Lindvall and Mrs. Walter E. Olson.
A grand old lady, 93-year-old Mrs. Effie MacNevin of Keyes Arcade, is starting a long journey this evening, a journey which will take her to Lincoln, Maine, where she will visit her son, Neil MacNevin.
The name of another International Falls serviceman has been added to the growing list of local men “missing in action” on Corregidor. It is that of Sgt. Anton Urban, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Urban.
Frank Doran was named full-time guard at Municipal Airport, succeeding Frank Curtin who resigned to accept a Mando job.
