Sig Arason, 96, of 1820 Sixth Ave. E., died this morning at Falls Memorial Hospital.
New teachers at Falls High School this fall are Patricia Mickow, John Gjertson and Margaret McBride.

Several Falls residents who are students at Bemidji State College will be doing their practice teaching in the Falls this fall. Pamela Thompson, Kipton Narbo and Robert DeBenedet will be at Falls High School, and Myron Barnes and Paul Earley will be at Backus Junior High School.
Mrs. Johanne Moe of the Falls has been elected the alternate delegate to the 42nd International Convention of the Sons of Norway.
Donald Scott Lewis, son of Mr. and Mrs. Larry Lewis, 824 Third St., is in Akron, Ohio, preparing to compete in the All-American Soap Box Derby to be held Saturday.
50 YEARS AGO
Mrs. Mernsey Monrean and seven children of Ketchikan, Alaska, plan to leave tomorrow by Canadian National railways for Prince Rupert, British Columbia. They will travel from there by plane to Ketchikan to rejoin Mr. Monrean who returned earlier to his position as salesman for a dairy there.
Mrs. Ann Steinmetz has returned to her home, Gateway Cabin No. 10, after a three-month visit in California. There she visited in North Hollywood with her son, William, and in Santa Maria with her son, John.
A guest at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Marland Teal, French Addition, is their son, Lowell, of Pensacola, Fla. After 21 years service with the U.S. Navy, Teal has retired as aviation chief metalsmith.
The family of Frank Haney gathered at the Haney homestead 16 miles west of Ray over the weekend to celebrate the birthdays of Frank, his sons, Robert, Francis and James, and his grandson, Frank Jr. Frank was 90 years old on Aug. 16.

Mrs. Edwin Wickert, the former Mary Louise Murdock, and her husband, a pitcher with the Mandos this season, left for Battle Creek, Mich., where they will reside.
Jean Keyes, 16, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Sylvester Keyes, Ericsburg, won the Koochiching County 4-H style queen title for the second successive year at the Littlefork Fair.
Miss Lila Mae Stenquist, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Carl F. Stenquist, Littlefork, began employment at the First National Bank here last week. She recently returned from Eugene, Ore., where she was employed for the past year.
Russell Hoglund, 4, was honored by 23 friends at a birthday party Saturday at his home, 603 Ninth St.

Mrs. Oscar Sundberg of Highway 53, who plans to leave next week to make her home in Rock Island, Ill., was feted at a farewell party. The event, a 1:30 luncheon, was staged at the home of Mrs. Sundberg’s sister-in-law, Mrs. Otto Mattson, Carson-Lupie Addition.
Relatives and friends staged a bridal shower in honor of Mrs. Orest Bodnar (nee Eileen Ness) at Moose Hall.
Ed Anderson, former deputy sheriff who has joined the U.S. Navy Reserves, visited at his home here.
Corp. Robert Barkovic has been accepted by the Signal Corps Officers’ Candidate School and last week started classes at Fort Monmouth, Red Bank, N.J.
