Mark and Diane Seegert proudly announce the birth of their son, Matthew Lewis, 6 pounds, 6 1/2 ounces, 20 inches long, born yesterday.

The family of Mary Braford is holding an Open House-Coffee Time in honor of her 93rd birthday at the Falls Care Center Dining Room on Aug. 31 at 2 p.m.

 

40 YEARS AGO

Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Ditsch and children, Ronnie and Maria, have departed for Thief River Falls where they will make their home. Mr. Ditsch has accepted a teaching position in the elementary grades of the public schools and Mrs. Ditsch will teach in St. Bernard’s Parochial School.

John Gouin, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lucien Gouin, 403 Seventh St., received a bachelor of science degree from St. Cloud State college during commencement exercises held Aug. 21.

Today, Judy Marie Reff of International Falls made her first commitment to the religious life at the provincial Convent of the Sisters of the Good Shepherd in St. Paul.

 

50 YEARS AGO

A girl was born today at Falls Memorial Hospital to Mr. and Mrs. Richard Chrislock, Littlefork, 6 pounds, 11 ounces.

As if opening day of school isn’t confusing enough, there will be 23 sets of twins, seven of them identical, stepping through the thresholds of local schools on opening day tomorrow. Eldest of the twin sets are the Coutures, Donald and David, sons of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Couture, 811 Seventh St., who are seniors this year.

A son was born yesterday at Falls Memorial Hospital to Mr. and Mrs. William Grinsell, Robert Paul, 8 pounds, 10 1/4 ounces.

 

60 YEARS AGO

A son was born yesterday at Falls Memorial Hospital to Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Hess, 812 Fifth St., weight, 8 pounds, 12 ounces.

A Falls boy, Larry Hoff, 10, has been confined to his home since Friday with a mild case of poliomyelitis. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Hoff, 510 11th Ave.

Miss Mildred Borg, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Borg, 1012 Third St., went to Warroad Sunday to begin her second term as mathematics instructor at Warroad Junior High School.

The six children of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Danielson, 605 Sixth St., enjoyed their first family reunion in 20 years last week. The children have returned home for visits individually but never all at the same time.

 

70 YEARS AGO

Mrs. Alvin Hausmann was guest of honor at a shower at the home of Mrs. William Gendron on Ranier Road.

Friends of Mrs. Albert Kalar gathered at the home of Mrs. Robert Blanchard in Holler to honor Mrs. Kalar.

William Brosvick, of the local teaching staff, who has walked his post all summer in a military manner as a Mando guard, has resigned to vacation a few days at Kettle Falls before the school bells start ringing for the Falls school session.

Donald and Ronald Dessin, twin sons of Mr. and Mrs. Cyrus E. Dessin, 321 Seventh St., celebrated their 10th birthdays by entertaining 17 friends at their home.
