25 YEARS AGO

For the first time in 21 years, Frances Erickson had all of her children here in International Falls.

Among the students receiving degrees at Moorhead State University during the annual summer commencement was Allan Bradley Brown. He was a 1982 graduate of Falls Senior High School.

 

40 YEARS AGO

There will be an Open House, 2 to 6 p.m., for Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Taylor on their 25th Wedding Anniversary at Don and Ila Harder’s in Ericsburg Sept. 3.

Miss Sally Borden, a 1966 graduate of Falls High School, received a bachelor of science degree with a major in English during the summer graduation ceremonies at the University of Minnesota, Duluth, recently.

James A. Jorgenson, son of Mr. and Mrs. James P. Jorgenson of 1009 Seventh St., is one of more than 1, 300 freshman cadets who have entered the U.S. Air Force Academy Class of ‘76.

 

50 YEARS AGO

Frederick Wayne Hartnell, son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Hartnell, Liberty Addition, is one of 153 Seventh-Day Adventist young men from 16 states and Canada who began learning the fundamentals of Medical Cadet Training at Camp Desmond Doss, Gladstone Park, Ore.

Mr. and Mrs. C.H. Schwankl and family, 900 Third St., and Mrs. Schwankl’s mother, Mrs. H.L. Gordon, of Mahnomen, spent the weekend on a trip to the North Shore. The trip was a birthday gift to Mrs. Gordon’s granddaughter, Karen, who was 11 on Saturday.

Pony League baseball winners are William Ruport, Allan Westberg, Robin Foss, David Palm, Mark Skrien, Danny Lemke, Mike McNally and Todd Williams.

 

60 YEARS AGO

A son was born today at Falls Memorial Hospital to Mr. and Mrs. Gene Koerbitz, 1118 First Ave., weight, 4 pounds, 7 ounces. Name chosen, Mark Gustave.

Henry’s Grocery are champs of the Peewee baseball league. Championship club members are Mike Nagurski, Danny Cullen, Ed Hanson, Richard Prozinski, Jimmy Wherley, Lawrence Cronkhite, Frank Simon, Mike Tate and Billy Cronkhite.

A son was born today at Falls Memorial Hospital to Mr. and Mrs. Enzio Kirsilla, Blackstone Apartments, weight, 8 pounds, 13 ounces.

Mrs. Art Mongrain was guest of honor at a stork shower in Ukrainian Hall. Hostesses were Mrs. D. Mongrain, Mrs. B. Knapp, Mrs. L. Nutak, Mrs. B. Christianson and Mrs. A. Villalta.

 

70 YEARS AGO

Mr. and Mrs. John Stoffel of Ray are parents of a son born today at the Littlefork Hospital.

Mr. and Mrs. Carl Johnson of Crystal Beach are the parents of a son born this morning at Northern Minnesota Hospital. Barry Rene are the names chosen.

Mrs. R.L. Christensen was hostess at a Friday night shower complimenting Mrs. Rodney Houska at the home of Mrs. Houska’s mother, Mrs. Joe Smith.

Mrs. Eugene Granger was honored by friends at a surprise birthday party at her home here. The Granger family recently moved to International Falls from Ray. Mr. Granger will teach in the city schools this year.
