Frank and Alice Herman celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on Friday at the Falls Care Center.
For the first time since it appeared in 1925, the Falls High School yearbook will include color photographs of the graduating seniors, according to editor-in-chief Frannie Williams.

Airman Dale R. Sundin, son of Mr. and Mrs. Einar Sundin of Ray, graduated at Lowrey Air Force Base, Colo., from the U.S. Air Force nuclear weapons specialist course conducted by the Air Training Command.
There will be a 25th anniversary open house for Mr. and Mrs. Donald Fish, 1209 Second Ave. E., Aug. 16, 7 to 10 p.m.
Fire of undetermined origin gutted the home of Mr. and Mrs. James Karsnia, 1319 Ninth St., early yesterday morning.
50 YEARS AGO
Miss Sharon Walls was feted at a bridal shower at the Ukrainian Hall. Mrs. Dick Gosselin, Sharon’s maid of honor, and Rita Walls, bridesmaid, assisted Miss Walls in opening her gifts.
Larry Connors, right fielder, and John Thompson, pitcher, showed the runner-up trophy won in the Midget baseball tourney held in several Iron Range cities. Other players are Bill Maruk, Dwight Wegner, Bob Milette, Gary Wood, Tony Curran, Ron Simon, Larry Weum, Dennis Jensen, Pete Cronkhite, Gaylan Simonson, Danny Lind, Tom Eck and John Skime.
Mr. and Mrs. Erick Dahlgren were feted on their silver wedding anniversary at their home at 1021 10th St. on Wednesday evening by a group of 50 friends and relatives.
Edward M. Olson, 66, commercial fisherman and mink rancher on Rainy Lake for 43 years, apparently died by asphyxiation Saturday. His body was recovered about 1:30 p.m. from 10 feet of water near his dock on Lost Bay.
60 YEARS AGO
Merlin Holm, stationed at San Diego Marine Base, Calif., was recently promoted to the rank of corporal. He is a cook at the marine base.
Mr. and Mrs. A.C. Heritage, 1310 Ninth Ave., were hosts this afternoon at an open house for pioneer residents whom members of Heritage’s family knew in the early days on the Rat Root River.
Sale of the 60-foot “Eva,” the queen of Rainy Lake pleasure boats for 30 years, was announced this week. Three Minneapolis businessmen have purchased the boat and plan to move the craft to the Mississippi River. The sale was made by Ray B. Sullian, Falls postmaster, who bought the Eva about two years ago from her original owner, Dr. N.H. Scheldrup.
Mrs. Gene Christenson, Ranier, was honored at a stork shower at the home of Mrs. Reuben Christenson, Riverside Park.
70 YEARS AGO
Mr. and Mrs. Alf V. Johnson, 904 Ninth St., announce the engagement of their daughter, Corinne Evelyn Johnson, to Max Robert Brindos, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph J. Brindos of this city.
Miss Edith Bergsing was guest of honor at a farewell party last evening at the home of Mrs. John Sutliffe. Miss Bergsing will leave for Oregon in the near future.
Mrs. Katie Scott who is employed in the North American Aviation Company, Englewood, Calif., arrived this morning to visit her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Hanson.
Bill Wales, son of Mr. and Mrs. R.C. Wales, left Sunday for Minneapolis for his final examinations for the U.S. Navy.
