Todd and Lou Kurhais opened the Sea Shell recently, a fresh and marine water fish supply shop, which also carries other pet accessories. The shop is located in the upper level of Shannon Square.
Matthew Jon Hallan of Littlefork received his master of science degree in mechanical engineering in fall quarter commencement ceremonies at the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis.

One wife has solved the problem of what to do when her husband goes to Army Reserve meetings — she will go with him. Mr. and Mrs. Bob (Pat) Douglas of Littlefork were sworn in today as the first husband and wife team to enlist in the U.S. Army Reserve in the area.
The engagement of Miss Donna Brunette of Cambridge to Larry Gilgen is announced today by her sister, Mrs. Douglas Buley of Ericsburg.
Bob Patnaude, 1966 graduate of the Falls, is playing hockey for the University of Wisconsin at Stout in Menomonie, Wis.
50 YEARS AGO
Retiring Nov. 5 after 15 years with Mando was Kenneth F. Green, 1628 Second Ave. E., who spent all 15 years in Insulite division.
Retiring recently was Walter R. (Walt) Thydean, Island View Route, who was a millwright and had been with Mando over 35 years.
Phyllis Skalsky is a new member of the East Side Go-Getters 4-H Club. The club met recently at the Martin Oliverson home.
Enforcement of the curfew — which means that all children under 16 must be off the street by 10 p.m. — will begin on Jan. 1, it was announced by Mayor Robert Bennett.

Mrs. N.L. Jurgenson, 210 10th Ave., entertained friends at holiday teas on Friday and Saturday at her home. Mrs. Cora Speelman and Mrs. William Schlafge poured during the Friday afternoon party and Mrs. E.N. Frykman and Mrs. Burton Bruggeman Jr. presided at the refreshment table on Saturday afternoon.
Marie Auger has arrived home from College of St. Scholastica, Duluth, to spend the holidays with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Auger, 718 Sixth St.
Mrs. John Kocinski Sr., 1109 11th St., left for Little Rock, Ark., to spend the holidays with her son, Marvin, and family.
Helen Joanne Rennell, daughter of Mrs. Gertrude Rennell, will be among the 450 students awarded degrees by the University of Minnesota Thursday evening at fall quarter commencement exercises.
70 YEARS AGO
Miss Mary Stein, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. T.R. Stein, 1001 Second St., who has been confined to Lake Julia Sanatorium, Puposky, for the last 19 months, was discharged from the hospital and returned home with her parents.
Bill Wheeler, son of Mr. and Mrs. H.R. Wheeler, left for Minneapolis, having received his call to the Navy.
Mrs. Victor Erickson of Ray underwent an appendectomy at the Littlefork Hospital Friday.
Thieves who used a car or small truck to haul away their loot raided the summer home of Major and Mrs. Horace G. Roberts and escaped with a considerable amount of equipment. The Roberts’ home is on an island in Rainy Lake about eight miles east of International Falls.
