Aini Makinen and Helen Tonn were co-hostesses for the Rainy Lake Women’s Club Christmas meeting at the home of Aini Makinen.
Former Bronco Tim Mellstrom and sophomore winger Daryl Mousseau each scored the hat trick to lead the Rainy River Community College hockey team to a 10-6 win over the St. Scholastica Junior Varsity at Bronco Arena.

A holiday leave had special meaning for one area serviceman when he arrived home after a hectic journey. Uninjured after surviving a plane crash that claimed nine lives the night before, Kim Lessard, 20, a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne Division, was reunited with his family, relatives and girlfriend.
Dennis Anderson of Loman is playing hockey at Gustavus Adolphus College.
Mrs. Steve Hams, the former Elizabeth Hilke, was honored at a bridal shower at St. Paul Lutheran Church.

A girl was born today at Falls Memorial Hospital to Mr. and Mrs. Dean Orwig, 7 pounds, 7 ounces.
Members of the Bridgettes, whose club has been in existence for 37 years, held a Christmas party at the home of Mrs. Olaf Lyngstad. Other members of the club are Mrs. Frank McKibbage, Mrs. Clifford Neveau, Mrs. Clarence Kalb, Miss Florence Zeipen, Mrs. Leslie Graham, Mrs. Wallace Cameron, Mrs. Arthur Fields and Mrs. Leo Bement.
Dear Santa — Please bring me a doctor set and a new doll and a new set of dishes. I also have a little sister Machelle. Please bring her a new doll. I have been a good girl. — Patricia Hertwig.

Pvt. Douglas Kincaid, son of Mr. and Mrs. Donald H. Kincaid, 805 Second St., arrived in the city from Fort Sill, Okla., where he finished his basic training in artillery.
A son was born today at Falls Memorial Hospital to Mr. and Mrs. Donald Morin, Loman Route, weight, 6 pounds, 13 ounces.
A daughter was born today at Falls Memorial Hospital to Mr. and Mrs. Robert Larsen, weight, 5 pounds, 5 ounces. Name chosen, Bette Jean.
Mr. and Mrs. James Steele, South International Falls, were honored at a family dinner on the occasion of their 26th wedding anniversary. Dinner was served to 17 guests at the home of their daughter, Mrs. Merlin Horgen. Mrs. Don Holler, another daughter, was assisting hostess.

The Stitchin’ Sisters Club was entertained at its Christmas party at the home of Mrs. Floyd Paulson, 817 Ninth St. Gifts were exchanged, little Kay Sharon Paulson acting as Santa Claus.
Employees of the Stevenson’s store were guests at a Christmas party given by the firm. A 6 o’clock dinner was served at the Dutch Room and was followed by a theater party. The group enjoyed seeing “Bambi.”
Frank Somers, M.D. & W. fireman, last week slipped on some ice and suffered a broken left arm.
Mrs. Maurice Raymond, 1215 Main Ave., was hostess to members of the Hi-Bidders Bridge Club at a Christmas party. Honors in bridge went to Mrs. Russell Raboin and Mrs. Clem Lepper. Mrs. Jack Lisowski won the keno award.
