Edna Simonson, a resident at the Falls Care Center, had ample reason to celebrate over the Christmas holiday season. Christmas Eve Day was her 77th birthday.

Donald Gartzke, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Gartzke, has accepted employment at Burnsville-Park Jeeps in Burnsville.

A girl was born yesterday at Falls Memorial Hospital to Mr. and Mrs. Roger Lehman.

Pamela D. Saunders (Thompson), daughter of Michael Thompson, 801 Ninth St., completed her work toward a bachelor of science degree at Bemidji State College at the end of fall quarter 1972.

George I. Johnson, paper mill store man and Ingvald Larson, Insulite plate cleaner, will finish their work careers with Boise Cascade this week and start the New Year by “retiring and taking life easy.”

50 YEARS AGO

Dear Santa: I have been a good girl all year. All I want for Christmas is snow. Lots and lots of it. Some of my girlfriends would like a little more, though. Would you please bring Charmay Randy (wrap him up). Carol wants him, too, so maybe you can bring two of them. Valerie and Trudy would both like stretch pants. And Patty hasn’t been too good. I will leave you a lunch and some carrots for your reindeer. Merry Christmas, Kathy Sheasby.

Mark Allen Pautz, 1-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. William Pautz, celebrated his first birthday on Christmas Day at a family gathering at the home of his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Pautz, Old Highway 11.

Christmas was held several days early for the children of Sgt. and Mrs. Delbert Larson at the home of their grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Sather of South International Falls. The youngsters left Monday with their mother to join Delbert, who is stationed in Okinawa.

Mrs. Elizabeth Risberg, who resides in Riverside Park, near Ranier, had double reason for celebrating Christmas Eve. It was Christmas Eve and also her 90th birthday.

A son was born Dec. 23 at Falls Memorial Hospital to Mr. and Mrs. Jack Wolfe, Island View Route, weight, 8 pounds, 5 ounces. Name chosen, Jack LaVern.

A daughter was born Christmas Day at 9:04 a.m. to Mr. and Mrs. Byron Johnson, 522 1/2 Ninth St. The baby weighed 7 pounds, 10 ounces and has been named Judith Diane.

At 3:15 this morning a daughter was born to Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Dvergsten, 821 Seventh St. The baby weighed 7 pounds, 10 ounces.

70 YEARS AGO

Christmas Day a son was born at Laurion Maternity Home to Pvt. and Mrs. Conrad Carroll, 619 Eighth St.

Miss Shirley Harmon, daughter of Mrs. Belle Harmon, returned from Duluth. She is a student at the NYA school.

Jack Prettyman, Rudy Magnusson and Marvin Bakken, who spent several months working in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, have returned to their homes here.

Myron, Wayne and Wallace Haglund, sons of Mr. and Mrs. E.K. Haglund, 1217 Sixth St., who are students at Gustavus Adolphus College, St. Peter, are spending the holidays at home.
