With a look of shocked surprise, Patti Thomson, 17, was crowned Miss International Falls 1973 during the pageant Friday evening in Backus Auditorium.

Airman Danny J. Ysen, son of Mr. and Mrs. James O. Ysen, has been assigned to Keesler Air Force Base, Miss., after completing Air Force basic training.

Army Private Kevin R. Hoy, 19, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Hoy, Rogers Route, recently completed eight weeks of basic training at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo.

A bit of “spring plowing” was done by Mike Kuryla on the William Keenan farm at the west edge of the city Saturday, with the temperature at 50 degrees under a warm, clear sky — and the date, Dec. 1.

International Falls area students Joseph H. Ball, Henry M. Eck and Richard J. Gable have enrolled at Michigan Tech for the 1962-63 school year.

Mrs. Gordon Plasky (Mary Hickey) was the guest of honor at a bridal shower Nov. 27 held in the Zion Lutheran Church.

Mr. and Mrs. Robert Staples of Ray will be guests of honor at a housewarming party Sunday at their new home on the Ray North Road.
