Captain Ron Bolin of the Minnesota State Patrol was promoted to captain and assumed command of the Mankato, Minnesota State Patrol District. Captain Bolin is a 1961 graduate of Falls High School.

Former Bronco trackster Carol Kuttes was a freshman member on the College of Saint Benedict’s cross country team this fall.

Machinery Repairman Petty Officer Third Class David B. Westberg, son of Mrs. Otto Westberg, 718 Eighth St., was promoted to his present rank on Nov. 1.

Airman Apprentice Steven J. Monrean recently completed seven weeks of recruit training at the Recruit Training Center in San Diego, Calif.

Concetta Joy Schrock, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Schrock of Loman, and Ivan Bontrager, son of Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Bontrager of Middlebury, Ind., will be united in marriage Dec. 16 during a 2 o’clock ceremony in the Black River Mennonite Church.

A girl was born today at Falls Memorial Hospital to Mr. and Mrs. Perry Eide, 6 pounds.

Sophomores Tom Johnson, John Thompson and Larry Weum earned spots on the varsity basketball squad and have played regularly in the first three games of the season.

Mrs. David (Linda) Frank, who left here on Nov. 17 to join her husband in Munich, Germany, has arrived safely according to word received by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Chowan.

Eleanor Marie Engelking, 30, of 511 Seventh Ave., died early Sunday morning at Cook Community Hospital of injuries received in an automobile accident.

Tom Hardy Sr., 304 Eighth St., underwent an appendectomy Sunday at Falls Memorial Hospital. He expects to be hospitalized about a week. Hardy is employed in the Mando electric shop.

A son was born today at Falls Memorial Hospital to Mr. and Mrs. Richard Pavleck, South International Falls, weight, 7 pounds, 8 ounces.

Mrs. John Leaf, Alexander Apartments, was honored at a stork shower at the home of Mrs. Arthur Anderson, 400 10th St.

Julie Ann Manley, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Manley, 807 Second St., entertained 20 guests at a dinner party last evening in celebration of her 10th birthday anniversary.

70 YEARS AGO

Lloyd Danielson enlisted last week in the Seabees.

Jewel Blumer, stenographer in the Insulite office, has been home ill for the past week with influenza. Anita Croucher is holding down Jewel’s job until she returns.

Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Steinbach of Loman are parents of a daughter born today at the Laurion Maternity Home  The child is their fourth child.

Lieutenant and Mrs. Roy Manley (Jean Gildersleeve), Ihrig Apartments, announce the birth of a daughter today at the Littlefork Hospital. Julie Ann are the names chosen for the child.
