Airman Shane E. Bryan, son of Clayton S. Bryan and Lizbeth A. Bryan, has graduated from Air Force basic training at Lackland Air Force Base, Texas. He is a 1987 graduate of Littlefork-Big Falls High School.

Miss Betty Rae Valentine was the guest of honor at a bridal shower Tuesday evening in the Zion Lutheran Church parlors.
Paul Lindhag, son of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Lindhag, is currently enrolled at St. Cloud State University.

A boy, Vincent Paul, was born today at Falls Memorial Hospital to Mr. and Mrs. Andre Gouin, 7 pounds, 5 ounces.
The city council approved the hiring by City Clerk Sterling Houglum of Richard (Dick) Ellison to serve the city as accountant under the city’s new bookkeeping and reorganized office system.
Mrs. Nora LaFrenier and Miss Eda Lee, 602 Fifth Ave., returned Sunday evening from a two-week vacation in Dallas, Texas, where they visited their brother, George Lee, director of the Dallas Athletic Club.
The Hi-Hats, a six-member combo organized by Irving Peterson when school convened last fall, will make its debut at the teenage dance sponsored by the Band Mothers club this Friday night in community auditorium. Musicians are David Peterson on the “vibes”; John McCarthy, drums; Ed Anderson Jr., trumpet; Donald Murray, trombone; and Kim Manley, piano, all 10th graders, and Brian Toder, tenor sax, ninth grader.

Mrs. Vernon Weum was recently honored at a birthday party at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Terry, 1323 Third Ave. The door prize was won by Mr. and Mrs. Robert Gerlach.

70 YEARS AGO
While skating on Black River near his home, James Palm broke through the ice. The timely assistance of his mother, who managed to get a board out to him, saved James’ life. The ice gave way several times as he attempted to crawl out. As it was, James was in cold water a long time before reaching safety.

Miss Betty McCormack arrived this morning from Moorhead where she is a student at Concordia College. She will do some practice teaching in the high school here in connection with her school work.
John O. Erickson of International Falls purchased the 200-acre farm of Mrs. John Hauner in the Cingmars community last week. Mrs. Hauner has moved to the Falls where she will make her home.
