Mr. and Mrs. Ed Szymezak, 515 Seventh Ave., announce the birth of a son today at the Laurion Maternity Home.

A surprise birthday party was given for Mrs. Cy Dessen at her home last evening.

Mrs. Ernest Dussault and daughters, Lenore and Beverly, and Mrs. A.E. Dussault and daughters, Maxine and Sandra, left this morning for the West Coast where they will join their husbands who have been employed there for several weeks.

Miss Margaret Jespersen, who will leave Sunday evening for Fort Des Moines, Iowa, where she will begin training in the WAACs, was guest of honor at a surprise party at the Andrew Jespersen home on Rainy Lake. Hostesses were Mrs. Vic Linsten, Mrs. Al Schneider and Mrs. Louis Snodgrass.
