International Falls Elks Lodge 1599 members watching Sunday’s telecast of the National Football Conference championship between the Minnesota Vikings and the Washington Redskins will themselves gain a national audience, courtesy of CBS Sports. According to Wally Herman, House Committee chairman for the Elks Club, CBS Sports will be broadcasting live from the Elks Club during Sunday’s game.

International Falls school board recently hired speech therapist Mrs. Linda Ann Dosch of Babbitt.
Airman William R. Miller, son of Mr. and Mrs. William A. Miller of 1119 10th St., has been assigned to Sheppard Air Force Base, Texas, after completing Air Force basic training.
50 YEARS AGO
Mrs. Charles Rottenwood, an Ojibway Indian woman, passed away Friday at La Verendrye Hospital, Fort Frances, at the age of 63. Mrs. Rottenwood is descended from one of the oldest and best known Ojibway families of the country. Her family, named “White Crow,” was known to have lived in the area since the first traders traveled the country.
A dance and reception at the South International Falls Fire Hall Saturday beginning at 8:30 p.m. will honor Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Judd, 410 Ninth St. The occasion is the 25th wedding anniversary of the couple.
A boy was born today at La Verendrye Hospital, Fort Frances, to Mr. and Mrs. William Sullivan, 3 pounds, 10 ounces.
Word was received by Mr. and Mrs. Rudy Johnson, Sha~Sha Resort, that their son, David, has been named to the dean’s list at Iowa State University, Ames, where he is a junior in engineering.

A daughter was born yesterday at Falls Memorial Hospital to Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Dobie, Ranier, weight, 6 pounds, 13 ounces. Name chosen, Donna Marie.
Mr. and Mrs. John Hamos of Ray announce the engagement of their daughter, Esther Ruth, to Arthur Friberg, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Lovell, Ray.
Pat DeLeo left the Falls for Westover, Mass., embarkation point for a North Atlantic construction project. Mrs. DeLeo and son, Larry, will continue to reside at Keyes Arcade for the time being.
Barbara Thompson, 6, daughter of Mrs. Ruby Thompson, 1114 13th Ave., is confined to Falls Memorial Hospital for treatment of injuries received Sunday when she fell off a slide at the city playground, Eighth Avenue and Third Street. Barbara’s jaw and several teeth were broken in the mishap.

Mrs. Alfred Viger and son, Leonard, will leave tonight for Grafton, N.D., where they will make their home with Mr. and Mrs. Albert Viger for the duration. Alfred Viger is a private in the Army and stationed at Fort Mead, Md.
Miss Margaret Louiseau left for Muskegon, Mich., where she has accepted a government position.
Mrs. Emil Kalar was guest of honor at a shower at the home of Mrs. Arne Nygard, Holler.
Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Fougner of Ranier are parents of a son born today at the Laurion Maternity Home. Allen Howard are the names chosen for the child.
