August W. Lindvall, 80, one of the earliest pioneers of Koochiching County, died Saturday morning at his residence in the Ihrig Apartments.
Staff Sergeant Glenn A. Hall of the Falls, has arrived at Saglek Air Station, Labrador, for assignment with an Air Defense Command unit.
Janet Kopp, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Kopp, 810 10th St., has accepted a position as medical technician in St. Anthony’s Hospital, Denver, Colo.
Mrs. Robert Nordness, whose husband is a U.S. Customs officer recently assigned here, was guest of honor at a pink and blue shower given at the home of Mrs. J.O. Rokke.

Mrs. Mary Culbertson, 49, head nurse at the Mando plant in International Falls, died in Virginia hospital of injuries received in the head-on collision of two cars.
Mr. and Mrs. Bruno LaVigne recently purchased the rooming house at 312 Sixth St. from Mr. and Mrs. Robert Carman and have taken possession of the property.
Mrs. Wesley Skrien, 911 10th St., was guest of honor at a baby shower held recently at the home of Mrs. John Ruelle, 508 Eighth Ave.
Mrs. Donald Randolph, City Beach, was honored at a stork shower at Ranier Community Building.
70 YEARS AGO
William C. Corrin and Richard Boquist were among recent graduates of the U.S. Naval Training Schools at Navy Pier.
Loren Irven Tyson of Holler was graduated from the Hospital Corps School at the U.S. Naval Hospital at Great Lakes.
Mrs. Ed Gibson and children and Grandpa Gibson are leaving Jan. 19 for Pleasant Grove, Utah, where they will join Mr. Gibson who is employed there. Ole Olson will take care of their place while they are gone.
Miss Margaret Earley, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Earley, who will leave soon for California, was guest of honor at a dinner party given at the Dutch Room by the women employees of Ketola’s store.
