Army Sgt. Mark D. Johnson, son of Harley and Joanne Johnson of Littlefork, has arrived for duty with the 263rd Maintenance Company, West Germany.

Joe Fulton scored five goals and led the Falls Squirt Flyers to a 12-0 victory over Roseau.

Beth Sundin celebrated her eighth birthday Saturday with a skating party at the local rink.

Thomas M. Reff, 18, and Dennis W. Liedke, 18, have entered the Air Force delayed enlistment program.

The engagement of Miss Kathleen Elaine Blanchard to Douglas Philip Laurent is announced by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Blanchard, 1612 First Ave. E.

50 YEARS AGO

Sixteen members of the After Five Mothers Club turned out in sub-zero weather for a “Topsy-Turvy” party in the home of Mrs. Ralph Enzmann, 127 Riverview. Guests were greeted with “goodbye” by hostesses wearing their aprons upside-down and were taken to the basement where pictures were hung upside down. Lunch was served immediately upon the guests arrival, in keeping with the party theme.

John Aasen, 103 Riverview Boulevard, has been appointed county chairman of the 1963 Heart Fund campaign for Koochiching County.

Donald Kirtland left Saturday for Motley where he began his work as section foreman for the N.P. Railway.

Dan Ganter, owner of radio station KGHS, is the newly appointed president of the Falls Junior Chamber of Commerce. He will finish the unexpired term of Wally Herman who resigned the office.

60 YEARS AGO

Harold B. Shapiro, former Falls resident, recently opened in the Highland Park district of St. Paul, a drug center which has been described as one of the most modern in the country.

Mrs. Kenneth Ness was honored at a stork shower at the home of Mrs. Haken Nelson, 1118 Main Ave.

Pfc. Fred Day arrived here this morning on a 10-day leave from San Diego, Calif., marine base.

70 YEARS AGO

Lloyd Moxley of International Falls called at the Ed Gibson home, Stillarville, Saturday evening enroute to Littlefork to see his wife and new son at the Hanover Hospital.

Mrs. Ione Ness has returned from Milaca, where she was employed.

Bill McKibbage has dropped out of high school to enter Virginia Junior College under a wartime education set-up.

Cpl. Harold Kimpton, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Kimpton, arrived home from San Antonio, Texas, to spend his furlough.
