Steve Bolstad, a senior majoring in mass communication at Bemidji State University, has been named co-production director for KBSU-TV during the 1987-88 school year. He is the son of Robert and Verna Bolstad of International Falls.

Bonnie Lucca and Leanna Tessier have been named to the fall quarter dean’s list at St. Cloud College.

Former President Lyndon Baines Johnson died yesterday of a heart attack at 64.

Muriel Walls, bowling for Bohman Airways of the Friday Night Mixed League, rolled her first 600 series — in grand style. She bowled 190 her first game, an amazing 256 her second game and finished up with a cool 226 game for a series total of 672.

The starting five on the Falls High basketball team are John Gouin, Jerry Jensen, Jim Grevich, Gerry Emery and Dave Couture.

A boy was born today at Falls Memorial Hospital to Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Morin, 6 pounds, 2 1/4  ounces.

Ernest Nelson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Nelson, 1005 Second St., will graduate with a bachelor of science degree in business administration at commencement exercises at 10 a.m. Saturday in the field house at the University of North Dakota, Grand Forks.

Mrs. Roman Schultheis Jr. was guest of honor at a baby shower at the home of Mrs. William Bocnuk. Mrs. Larry Tessier assisted with the gift opening.

Petitions intended to start legal machinery for annexation of the village of South International Falls by the city of International Falls were being circulated in the village today.

William H. Keenan, veteran member of the city fire department and presently city weighmaster, celebrated his 84th birthday today.

A party honored Randy Pozniak, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ted Pozniak, 620 Sixth St., at his home Friday afternoon in celebration of his second birthday anniversary.

A son was born today at Falls Memorial Hospital to Mr. and Mrs. James Kalar, 607 Seventh Ave., weight, 8 pounds, 9 ounces.

70 YEARS AGO

Jimmy Parsons, son of Mr. and Mrs. Easton Parsons, 1019 10th St., entertained eight little boys Sunday, his fifth birthday.

Mrs. M. Sarkiaho was guest of honor at a surprise party Sunday at Ukrainian Hall. One of the guests at the party was Pvt. Clifford Sarkiaho, U.S. Army, who is spending a furlough here.

In observance of her parents’ 30th wedding anniversary, Mrs. Thomas Savard Jr. entertained for Mr. and Mrs. Oscar LaFave at their home, 715 Eighth St. She was assisted by her sister, Miss Gladys LaFave, Duluth, who is spending a few days here, and Mrs. Clifford Neveau.

Mrs. John Slatinski, Miss Violet Town, Orval, Mae and Marvin Streiff accompanied Miss Edna Slatinski to Puposky where she is a patient at Lake Julia Sanatorium.
