A pink and blue shower at the home of Mrs. Joe McGregor recently honored Mrs. Jim Edwards. Mrs. Marvin Erickson was assisting hostess.
Danny Barg has been a patient in the Littlefork Municipal Hospital for the past two weeks receiving treatment for frost-bitten toes.
The Falls’ hockey Broncos matched the modern state high school record for consecutive games without defeat by eking out a victory and a tie against two mighty Iron Range representatives last weekend. The Eveleth contest marked the 44th straight game in which the Broncos have played without sustaining a defeat.
60 YEARS AGO
Both Eugene Holler and his son, Darrel, 8, of Highway 53, are confined to Falls Memorial Hospital for medical treatment. The father contacted pneumonia last Wednesday and was taken to the hospital where he was joined Thursday by Darrel, who had an attack of asthma.
Local friends of Mrs. Eddie Hickey, formerly of the Falls and now of Tacoma, Wash., honored her in absentia at a stork shower at the home of Mrs. Delbert Hickey, 308 Ninth St.
A Falls man is believed to be the owner of what is believed to be one of the 50 oldest Johnson outboard motors still in use in the United States. He is Earl Thorson, Peterson Apartments, whose 1921 2-horse won him a prize in a national contest sponsored by Johnson Motors.
Mrs. Charles Vadnais, 1116 13th Ave., entertained the Sew and Sews’ Club at her home.
70 YEARS AGO
Mrs. William McGillivray of Birchdale was pleasantly surprised Jan. 15, her 75th birthday, when a group of friends and neighbors arrived at her home to celebrate.
Mrs. Nahan W. Fitterman (Roseltha Nesheim) has been appointed to fill the school faculty vacancy created by the resignation of Arne B. Larson, director of instrumental music.
Cpl. Ivan J. Warmuth is taking his officers training course at the field artillery school, Fort Sill, Okla. He seems happy to report that he has received The Journal every day since he was drafted last July.
