Gerald and Patti Bolstad and sister Shawna are proud to announce the birth of Brittney Lee who was born Jan. 26.  She weighed 7 pounds, 8 ounces and was 19 1/2 inches long.

An open house honoring Floyd and Marian O'Brien on their 40th wedding anniversary will be held Saturday from 1 to 5 p.m. at the home of their daughter, Mrs. Larry Hjelden, Papermakers Colony.

Mrs. Cliff Breneman Jr. has been employed at Falls Nursing Home the past few months and is now working as an licensed practical nurse at Falls Memorial Hospital.

A boy was born today at Falls Memorial Hospital to Mr. and Mrs. Byron Milender, 6 pounds, 15 1/2 ounces.

Jim Amidon and Patti Sheridan were elected king and queen to reign over Winter Sports Week events staged by the Falls high School Friday and Saturday.

Carol Vold and Mary Servis of International Falls will receive their caps from the Crookston School of Practical Nursing at an impressive candlelight ceremony on Feb. 5 at 8 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Crookston.

New officers of Brownie Troop 123 are: Patti Misner, president; Jill Pavleck, treasurer; Cheryl Shortridge, secretary; and Sandra Thompson, scribe.

60 YEARS AGO

Dallas Vance, son of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Vance, South International Falls,  left for Fort Sheridan, Ill. A member of the Army Reserve, he recently received his call to active duty.

A daughter was born recently to Mr. and Mrs. Steve Maruk, 406 1/2 Sixth St., weight, 5 pounds, 13 ounces.

New officers of Brownie Troop 158 are: Susan Sellman, president; Jill Keyes, secretary; Marsha Christensen, treasurer; and Jo Ann Henry, scribe. Leaders are Mrs. Lewis Keyes and Mrs. Stanley Naslund.

Miss Harriet Lloyd, daughter of Mrs. J.J. Lloyd, Ketola Apartments, has informed The Journal she is now employed at Westlock, Alberta, northwest of Edmonton, where temps fell to -48 during the second week in January. Miss Lloyd is an assistant to the town secretary-treasurer, who also operates an insurance agency.

Mr. and Mrs. Gunnar Lindstrom (Pearl Swenson), Crystal Beach, announce the birth of a daughter at the Littlefork Hospital today. She will be called Jan Marie.

Mrs. Jerry Lonergan (Clara Oveson) left for Brooklyn, N.Y., to be with her husband. Mr. Lonergan has been in the U.S. Coast Guard since Dec. 10.

Pvt. Floyd Craig left for Texas to report before leaving for paratroop training at Fort Benning, Ga. He spent his furlough here visitng his parents, Dr. and Mrs. C.C. Craig and friends.

Mrs. L.C. Ecklund, 932 Third St., was announced as successor to Miss Helen Malvey in the post of home economics instructor at Falls High School.
