A boy was born yesterday at La Verendrye Hospital, Fort Frances, to Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Roderick, 807 Eighth St., 5 pounds, 10 1/2 ounces.

Milton R. Kochaniuk became the 10th sheriff of Koochiching County at 9 a.m. this morning following swearing-in ceremonies administered by District Judge Gordon McRae in the court room of the county courthouse..

Mrs. Adolph O. Tatting, of 808 Sixth St., has been notified that her entry in an H.J. Heinz company national consumer contest has won her a new Ford Falcon convertible.

Granville Hellekson, partner in the Hellekson-Turenne Bus Company of the Falls, this week sold his interests in the firm to Noel J. Turenne, his partner since July, 1961.

Marine PFC Robert Schwab is presently stationed in Okinawa after having served the past five months in the Caribbean area.

Rev. and Mrs. F. Schlade, new pastor at St. Paul’s English Lutheran Church, and his family arrived in the city from Orchard Park, N.Y.

Mrs. Ida Reuter, Keyes Arcade, who will leave this evening by train for an extended vacation in California, was honored guest at a party yesterday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Albert Sandstrom, 810 Eighth St.

Daniel Ruelle, 21, United States Navy, made a holiday telephone call to his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Ruelle, 712 10th St., to tell them that he has just returned to the states after 15 months duty near Honolulu, Hawaii.

International Falls’ ninth daughter has answered the “call to colors” with the induction of Miss Patricia Wales, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R.C. Wales, in the WAVES.

Mrs. Joseph Sawchuk was guest of honor at a farewell party at the home of Mrs. Mose Galipeau, 1237 Seventh Ave. Mrs. Sawchuk with her children, Darlene, Sharie, Joan, Penny and Peter will leave soon for St. Paul to join Mr. Sawchuk and make their home.

Mrs. and Mrs. Charles Holcomb, Highway 53, are parents of a daughter born today at the Laurion Maternity Home. Leatrice Joy are the names chosen for the child.

A daughter was born to Mr. and Mrs. R.C. Snyder, 719 Seventh St., at the Northern Minnesota Hospital today. Carole Rae are the names chosen for the child.
