Capt. Chris Ewald, a native of the border city, retired from the Navy on June 30 after 30 years of service.
A boy was born yesterday to Mr. and Mrs. Donald Powell, 8 pounds, 12 1/2 ounces.
Mr. and Mrs. Wilfred Carriveau are now at home in the Blue Goose Apartments in International Falls following their marriage and a wedding trip to the Twin Cities.
“Billsmobile” is what Falls golfers are calling the home-made golf cart designed and manufactured by Bill Barrett, Mando mechanical wizard who launched the cart at the Falls golf club this week. The rig is powered by a 2-1/2 horsepower gasoline engine which Bill used on his snowblower in the winter.

Friends honored Mrs. Paul Yeshe, 1126 10th St., at a farewell party at the Lawrence Hams home, 810 Ninth St. Mr. and Mrs. Yeshe and their children, Mary Lynn, 3, and Mark, 6 months, are moving to Hibbing to make their home.
Marriage vows were exchanged Monday evening by Miss Yvonne Carew and Pfc. Gerald Frank in Mission Covenant Church, South International Falls.
Claude Blais today assumed ownership of Vets Border Taxi from Pete DeBenedet. The transaction involves sale of cabs operating from a stand at 434 Third St.
A birthday party honoring Mary Jo Danielson was held at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Danielson, 903 Ninth St., Thursday afternoon.
70 YEARS AGO
Mrs. John Thompson, Holler, was guest of honor at a birthday party at her home. Fifteen men and women gathered for a potluck dinner.
Mrs. George Bahr Jr., and daughter, Judith Ray, of Brainerd, returned to their home Sunday afternoon after spending 10 days at the home of Mrs. Bahr’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ben Thiele.
A party of about 20 persons, men, women and children, in five cars, are occupying cabins at Green’s tourist camps here. The party is a matter of considerable speculation on the part of the local police department, as they are thought to be gypsies. They are traveling in good cars, are paying their way and have committed no depredations nor visited the downtown district. Police report the party has not been molested in any way and they probably will be treated during their stay as tourist visitors.
Joseph C. Allen, son of J.C. Allen, has enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps and expects soon to be a full-fledged flier.
