LeRoy Wilson and Raelynn Puttbrese proudly announce the birth of their son, Michael LeRoy Wilson, 8 pounds, 9 ounces, 20 1/2 inches.

Cindy Green has been accepted as a student at the University of Minnesota-Crookston  She plans to enroll in fashion merchandising and sales and marketing management at the two-year college.

A girl, Rachel Julie Catherine, was born yesterday at Falls Memorial Hospital to Mr. and Mrs. Michael Rud.

David Millard, son of Mrs. George Millard, 804 Third St., and David Olsen, son of Mr. and Mrs. Duane Olsen of Terrace Lane, will be in Thunder Bay, Ontario, for two weeks, attending the Lakehead School of Hockey.

Miss Robin Gerlach was the guest of honor at a bridal shower in the Zion Lutheran Church.

 

50 YEARS AGO

A boy was born today at Falls Memorial Hospital to Mr. and Mrs. Carl Schell, 8 pounds, 6 3/4 ounces.

Mrs. LeRoy Lundquist, 1412 Third Ave. E. and Mrs. Stanley Pierce, 604 10th St., spent the weekend with their respective daughters, Judy and Phyllis, at Bemidji.

Direction of development of Clark’s Park east of the border city on Highway 11 was turned over to Fred Hilden, resident of Clark’s Colony, at last night’s meeting of the city council.

Nancy Nelson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Nelson, 1004 Seventh St., arrived last week to visit her parents. She will return to her studies Sept. 1 at Wilmington College, Wilmington, Ohio, where she will be a junior.

Neighbors called at the Shampine home on Loman Route Wednesday to welcome them to the community. The family moved here recently from Bigfork.

Five generations of one family were represented at a reunion at the home of Mrs. Frank Mathews, 814 11th St., last night.

Paul Van Etten, 909 Sixth St., suffered a stroke at his home at 11 o’clock last night and was taken to Falls Memorial Hospital by ambulance.

Dr. William D. Franklin, son of Dr. and Mrs. E. R. Franklin, Falls optometrist, is now associated with his father in the practice of optometry, with offices in the Penney building on Third Street.

Mr. and Mrs. Frank Johanson (Vienna Esala), 422 Ninth St., announce the birth of their son today at the Laurion Maternity Home. Franklin David are the names chosen for the child

Mrs. Victor Begg, who is leaving for Burns, Ore., to join Mr. Begg and make their home, was guest of honor at a party last evening at the Joseph Parker residence, 1010 Eighth St.

Bob Bennett has replaced Jim Cummings as timekeeper at the Insulite. Jimmie is recalled to the main office.

Raymond LaPage Jr., who left Thursday for active duty in the U.S. Army, was guest of honor at a farewell party at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ray LaPage.
