A girl, Marie Alison, was born July 7 at La Verendrye Hospital, Fort Frances, to Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Ditsch.

Buzz Christensen made a second day charge, from four strokes back, and won the 18th Annual Smokey Bear Tournament with a seven over par 182.

Leonard Kucera, son of Mr. and Mrs. Wallace J. Kucera Sr. of Ericsburg, will graduate July 14 with a master of science degree in elementary administration from Mankato State College.

Off to school goes Janet Jensen, 18, South International Falls, the first of the 24 students assisted by the program sponsored by the Falls Citizens Scholarship Foundation, Inc. Janet has enrolled in a nine-month accounting and business machines course in Minneapolis.

A girl was born today at Falls Memorial Hospital to Mr. and Mrs. Casper Hilfer, 9 pounds, 1 1/4 ounces.

A boy was born today at Falls Memorial Hospital to Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Walkoviak, 7 pounds, 13 ounces.

Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Perling, former Falls residents, celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary at their home in Minneapolis recently.

A son was born July 8 at Falls Memorial Hospital to Mr. and Mrs. George Pellinen, Big Falls, weight, 10 pounds, 3 ounces. Name chosen, Gerald Richard.

A son was born today at Falls Memorial Hospital to Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Bacon, weight, 7 pounds, 9 ounces.

Mr. and Mrs. William Lucachick, long-time residents of Rauch, celebrated their golden wedding anniversary on July 4 with a family gathering at their home. Five sons and three daughters of the couple attended as well as some of their 19 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Mr. and Mrs. Warren Hemstad, 620 13th Ave., and the former’s father, Nick Hemstad, of the Falls, attended a family reunion at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Hilding Sandstrom in Walker.

A son was born July 8 at the Littlefork Hospital to Mr. and Mrs. Howard Mansfield of Holler. John David are the names chosen for the child.

Raymond V. Anderson spent Wednesday in Duluth, leaving there this morning to go to Fort Snelling where he will enlist in the air corps.

Cecil “Swede” McIntyre, son of Mrs. George McIntyre Sr., left Tuesday evening for Minneapolis, enroute to the Naval Training Station at Great Lakes, Ill.

Mrs. Leo Bement, 713 10th St., was hostess at a dinner party complimenting her sister, Mrs. Raymond Braford of Wadena, who is visiting here. A 7 o’clock dinner was served with covers laid for eight guests.
