Charlie Kocinski, who hasn’t lost in the discus for two years, continued his winning ways last Saturday to repeat as the 1972 Minnesota State High School Champion.
Bruce Walker, son of Mr. and Mrs. Cyril Walker, South International Falls, graduated with high distinction at Rainy River State Junior College. He is the recipient of the Bush Foundation Junior College Grant from Hamline University in the amount of $1,500.
The District 361 School Board recently received and accepted the resignation of Stanley Johnson who was head track coach for the boys this year and assistant coach for eight years.

A son was born today at Falls Memorial Hospital to Mr. and Mrs. Orville Larson, 7 pounds, 15 ounces.

Nancy Caple, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Rudolph Caple, 806 Eighth St., Floyd Romslo, son of Mr. and Mrs. Berger Romslo, Highway 53, and Alice Johnson, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. M.W. Johnson, 617 1/2 Sixth St., were among the 341 seniors of St. Olaf College, Northfield, who received their degrees in commencement exercises on Sunday.

A daughter was born today at Falls Memorial Hospital to Mr. and Mrs. Warner Skifstrom, 111 13th St., weight, 7 pounds, 9 ounces.
A son was born yesterday at Falls Memorial Hospital to Mr. and Mrs. Gustav Stavseth.
Oscar Mahle, District 8 marble shooting champion, Saturday added another trophy to his growing collection. The 12-year-old sharp-shooter won the state VFW marble tournament at St. Paul and will represent Minnesota at the national shoot at Durham, N.C., June 26-28.
Patrick O’Brien, son of Mr. and Mrs. Victor O’Brien, Penney Apartments, was honored by 16 friends at his 10th birthday party Saturday.
70 YEARS AGO
Mrs. Donald A. Harris, 1414 First Ave. E., Carson-Lupie, today received a telegram advising her of the death of her husband in Scotland. Private Harris, 26, left Fort Frances in March 1941 with the Canadian forestry corps. Death resulted from pneumonia.
Jim Crotty graduated from high school a week ago Thursday. The following day he went to work in the Mando test laboratory. This boy Crotty works fast.
Elmer Ogren moved into his new home this past week at 815 10th St. Before moving in, Elmer spent some time building a garage.
Stanley Helleloid, principal of the Baker Elementary School and Backus Junior High school for several terms, expects to be working in Uncle Sam’s Army by the time the school bells ring next fall. Mr. Helleloid left several days ago for Fort Snelling to volunteer his services.
