Airman Second Class Russell A. Wittmann Jr., son of Dr. and Mrs. R.A. Wittmann, Birch Point, has been spending his 30-day leave here with his parents.
The border city’s newest business enterprise, Tone’s Garden Store, will stage an open house event Friday and Saturday. The store is located on Highway 11-71 on the west edge of town.
Relatives and friends gathered at the home of Mrs. M.C. Longballa to honor her at a belated birthday party. Her birthday was May 29 and she was 80 years old.
Army Pvt. Leon K. Kennedy, son of Mr. and Mrs. Paul A. Kennedy, Littlefork, recently completed the eight-week teletype operation course at the Signal Training Center, Fort Gordon, Ga.

Miss Betty Averill, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Erwin Averill, South International Falls, began her duties today as a stenographer for Border Publishing Company.
Dr. and Mrs. E.B. Kinports were guests of honor at a farewell dinner party by the building committee of St. Paul’s English Lutheran Church. Dr. Kinports and his family will leave soon to make their home in San Diego for three years.
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Wayne Olson, who were married here Friday, are now at home to friends in the Riverside Hotel, following a honeymoon trip to Duluth and the North Shore.
Elaine Marie Gray, 3, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Gray, 1016 Ninth St., is improving at Falls Memorial Hospital where she has been receiving medical treatment for tonsillitis for two days.

A group of friends helped Mrs. George Bancroft celebrate her birthday at her home in Jameson Addition this afternoon.
Miss Frances Pehrson, school music director, left for Minneapolis where she will take some summer work at the Minneapolis College of Music.
Cal and Vic Davis, sons of Mr. and Mrs. Vic Davis, 902 Second St., arrived home Saturday from Minneapolis where they are students at the University of Minnesota.
After waiting several weeks for call to active duty in the U.S. Army Air Corps, Pvt. Dick Hillstead, son of Mr. and Mrs. C.L. Hillstead, and Private Ronald Ruelle, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Ruelle, received orders to report to Fort Snelling Tuesday morning.
