The International Falls School Board recently hired Patricia Muckow of Wabasha as a physical education and health teacher, Maggie McBride as a part-time business education teacher, and Rod Max as golf coach.

Air Force Master Sergeant Neil D. Richards, son of Donald B. Richards of 916 Second St., has been decorated with the Meritorious Service Medal in West Germany.

Douglas Skrief, son of Mrs. William Skrief, 816 Sixth St., has been accepted for Harvard College and is a scholarship recipient for the freshman class of 1972.

Mr. and Mrs. Geno Lucca, 1109 Seventh Ave., announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Kathy Marie, to Robert Lloyd Dunbar, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jay Dunbar, 817 Sixth St.

Promotion of Martin L. (Marty) Grinsell to the position of salaried supervisor in the shipping department of the Falls paper mill was reported today by Truman Sturdevant, converting manager.

The Right Rev. Hamilton H. Kellogg, bishop of Minnesota, will dedicate the new $90,000 Holy Trinity Episcopal Church at services scheduled for 4 p.m. Sunday. Two former pastors, the Very Rev. John H. McNaughton and Rev. Charles T. Gaskell, will be here for the occasion.

A boy was born today at Falls Memorial Hospital to Mr. and Mrs. William Moxley, Island View Route, 7 pounds, 10 1/2 ounces.

Pfc. Merlin L. Holm, son of Mrs. Eva Holm, 1125 Seventh Ave., is attending a Marine Corps food service school at Camp Lejeune, N.C.

Joseph N. Soboleski, son of Mr. and Mrs. Victor Soboleski, Liberty Addition, is among University of Minnesota students to receive bachelor of science degrees this week from the college of agriculture, forestry, home economics and veterinary medicine.

Falls Recreation Center, lunchroom and pool hall at 308 Fourth St. opened today under the ownership of Chet Lind, who recently bought the business from Cy Walker.

A son was born today at Falls Memorial Hospital to Mr. and Mrs. Johan Tanem, weight, 8 pounds, 5 ounces  Name chosen, Douglas LeRoy.

 

70 YEARS AGO

At a quiet wedding Wednesday evening at St. Paul’s English Lutheran Church parsonage, Miss Ruby Karnofsky of this city became the bride of Peter Germain of Loman.

Frank and Melvin Bowman and Robert Trompeter returned from a two-week camping trip to Saginaw bay, Rainy Lake.

Ted Stepoway, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Stepoway, 516 Ninth St., left Sunday morning for Minneapolis to enroll for summer school at the University of Minnesota.

Bob Doherty, who has joined the U.S. Marines and will be inducted Wednesday in Minneapolis, was guest of honor at a buffet supper at the Fred Hilden home, Point O’Pines.
