Falls Trap Club member John Sether led the scoring for Wednesday with a perfect 25x25. Max Smith and Harry Poster missed one target each for 24x25. Chuck LaJambe hit 21x25.

Former Bronco, University of Minnesota-Duluth and Washington Capitals goalie Bob Mason signed a four-year contract with the Chicago Blackhawks for a reported $1 million.

Mr. and Mrs. Roy C. Munroe will be honored on their 40th wedding anniversary June 24 from 2 to 4:30 p.m. at Faith United Church in an open house celebration. Their daughters, Arlene and Bobbi, extend an invitation to all friends to share the occasion with the Munroes.

Attorney Dave Johnson, 31, a 1971 graduate of the William Mitchell Law School in St. Paul, has opened an office for the practice of law in the Falls.

Nancy C. Blair, Janice Marie Turenne, and Kathleen Marie Lucca were among the 103 degree recipients at commencement exercises at the College of St. Scholastica on June 11.

 

50 YEARS AGO

Joseph Edward Barkovic, 17, son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Barkovic, former Falls residents now of Dhahran, Saudi Arabia, graduated from Notre Dame, International School, Rome, Italy, June 3.

Mr. and Mrs. Chester Sumner were honored Sunday evening at Ukrainian Hall on the occasion of their silver wedding anniversary.

Four lucky boys, Danny Lucachick, Richard Price, Gary Kittelson, and Vern Erickson, won trips to the Twin Cities to watch the Minnesota Twins play a game sometime this summer.

Fred (Butch) Lessard, Ranier, has been a patient in the Veteran’s Hospital, Minneapolis, for the past week as a result of an eye injury due to a power mower accident at his home.

 

60 YEARS AGO

George House, son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank House of Ray, returned last week from overseas duty with the navy. He had served in Germany, Italy, and the Mediterranean.

Sgt. Clarence Grover, South International Falls, was among 2,911 combat veterans from Korea to arrive in San Francisco Tuesday for rotation or release from active duty.

Mrs. Nyland Olson, 807 Sixth St., was honored at a stork shower at her home. Hostesses were Mrs. John Skalsky, Mrs. Charles Barby, Mrs. John Harris and Mrs. Art Hartje.

Lt. Edward W. Johnson, who has been visiting his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Martin N. Johnson, 521 Fourth Ave., left yesterday to report to Camp Carson, Colo.

 

70 YEARS AGO

Floyd Sandstrom, son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Sandstrom, 820 Third St., left for Columbus, Ohio, where he has accepted a position with the Curtis-Wright Company.

Miss Empie Hill of the Mando nursing staff is on vacation this week. Mrs. Mary Culbertson, 719 Fifth St., is taking her place at the health service.

The Theodore Bolstad family, 721 Ninth St., is enjoying a reunion today. Dean Bolstad of Seattle, Wash., who hasn’t been home for almost 15 years, is spending two weeks vacation here with his wife, visiting relatives and friends.

Lance Jones, 18, Johnson Cabins, is a patient in the Northern Minnesota Hospital. He suffered a serious injury to his hand while operating a saw-rig last night.
