The International Falls School Board recently accepted the resignation of Sarah Johnson, noon supervisor at Backus Middle School.

First National Bank President Keith Sutherland and bank employees presented a plaque to John Buettner, vice president, for 25 years of service to the bank.

40 YEARS AGO

Miss Marjorie Kalar, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Max Kalar, South International Falls, graduated Sunday afternoon, June 3, from Fairview Hospital School of Nursing in Minneapolis.

The Falls will send an athlete to a national tournament in the form of little Tim Ostroot who will be traveling to Missoula, Mont., for the National AAU Age Group Wrestling Tournament.

There will be a 25th wedding anniversary celebration for Mr. and Mrs. Norman Halverson at their home, 2031 Second Ave., June 24, 2 to 5 p.m.

50 YEARS AGO

Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Carol Holmstrom are on a wedding trip in Glacier National Park following their marriage at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Minneapolis, on June 16.

Mr. and Mrs. Norman Hosterman, Clementson, will celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary with an open house at their home tomorrow from 2 to 5 p.m.

Mr. and Mrs. L.D. Danielson recently entertained 39 friends and relatives in honor of the graduation of their daughter, Lavina, from Indus High School.

Tuesday, June 4, Mrs. Harold Nelson, Mrs. Christine Nelson, Mrs. Emil Ostlund and Mrs. Webb were luncheon guests of the Stanley Pierce's. Last Saturday, Stanley took his wife, Ida, Mrs. Emil Ostlund and Christine Nelson to Minneapolis where they will take a plane to Oslo, Norway.

60 YEARS AGO

Mr. and Mrs. Armand Sequin, 412 Eighth St., announce the engagement of their daughter, Jacqueline Marie, to Vernon J. Larsen.

The Rev. A.H. Ruehmann and family will be honored at a farewell party at 8 p.m. Tuesday in Calvary Methodist Church parlors.

Pvt. Willis W. Denny, 20, returned home on furlough from Camp Funston, Kan., where he has completed basic training.

Many friends and relatives of Mr. and Mrs. Abe Running, Littlefork, called at their home Sunday afternoon to celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary.

70 YEARS AGO

Allen Gaines, 6-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Gaines, 1023 Seventh St., suffered cuts on both his feet this morning near the municipal playground. Barefooted, Allen walked into some tall grass hiding broken glass.

Mrs. Kenneth Speelman entertained at a coffee party for Mrs. K. Milligan, who is leaving soon to make her home in Detroit, Mich.

Renewing old acquaintances here, Dr. Elizabeth Monahan entertained at tea at her summer cottage at Birch Point. About 35 guests were present.

Twenty-year-old Marion Kelley is the new manager of the Border and Falls theaters. Miss Kelly began working for the local theaters three years ago as candy girl. When Ancel DeVries left to join the air corps, she was made managerĀ  Lois Nastansky is the assistant manager.

Birth of a daughter, JoAnn Kay, today has been announced by Mr. and Mrs. Leon Pullar. Mrs. Pullar is at the Laurion Maternity Home.
