Susan Readman, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Readman, 1124 Eighth St., graduated summa cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in hotel and restaurant management at University of Wisconsin-Stout.

The new officers of MacNeill Chapter, Order of DeMolay, who will serve for the ensuing six months are Bill Readman, Lori Ann Braford, Don Ewald, John Smith, Glenn Richmond, Scott Readman, Fred Barthell, David Trask, Frank Oveson, Jerry Nord, Stuart Martell, Jerry Hoy, Mike Kaminski and Allen Chute.
James Kalstad, vice president of the International State Bank, is completing his second year of studies at the Minnesota School of Banking held at St. Olaf College, Northfield, and will receive a graduation certificate at the conclusion of the school June 30.

A girl was born today at Falls Memorial Hospital to Mr. and Mrs. William Tivey, 8 pounds, 9 ounces.
Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Caple are parents of a daughter, Anne Leslie, born Saturday at Ann Harbor, Mich. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Beckstrand are maternal grandparents and Mr. and Mrs. Rudolph Caple are paternal grandparents. Ronald received his master’s degree in chemistry on the same day, but missed out on most of the graduation ceremonies due to the new arrival, his parents were informed.
Robert M. Johnston, fireman apprentice USN, son of Mr. and Mrs. C.T. Johnston of the Falls, is serving aboard the destroyer tender USS Dixie, operating as a unit of the Seventh Fleet in the Western Pacific.
Debra Horness, 7-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Horness, submitted to an emergency appendectomy Saturday evening at the Littlefork Municipal Hospital.

Sgt. Vernon N. Gagnon, son of Mr. and Mrs. G.V. Gagnon, South International Falls, left last week for his station in Germany after a furlough at his home here.
Frank E. King, 924 Third St., has been confined to Falls Memorial Hospital since Wednesday evening when he suffered a heart attack at his home.
Gordon N. Selby Jr., USN, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ossie G. Lessard, Ranier, was advanced to the rank of lieutenant while serving on board the destroyer USS John A. Bole in the Pacific fleet.
Chief Petty Officer Lowell Teal, son of Mr. and Mrs. Marland Teal, 810 Fifth Ave., left today with his wife and two children, June and James, for Norfolk, Va., after spending a 10-day leave here.

Glenn McMicken, U.S.N., arrived home this morning from Parris Islands, S.C. He was called home because of the serious illness of his mother.
Pvt. John E. Gowdy, who was employed at Art’s Furniture store from September until May, when he enlisted in Duluth, has been accepted as an airplane metal worker and is stationed at Jefferson Barracks.
The city aldermen hired a caretaker for City Beach. Ray Cassidy, 46, was the successful — and only — applicant for the job. His duties will begin at once and he will be paid $125 per month.
