There will be a 65th birthday open house for Mrs. Cecilia Anderson July 2, 1 to 5 p.m., at Woodland Park Apartments Recreation Room.

Mr. and Mrs. Peter Duvos will be honored on the occasion of their 50th wedding anniversary at an open house July 1 beginning at 3 p.m. in the Moose Hall.

Jim Jorgenson, son of Mr. and Mrs. James Jorgenson, 1009 Seventh St., was honored at a surprise farewell party at Tracy Weum’s home. Jim is leaving Sunday for Colorado Springs, Colo., where he will attend the Air Force Academy.

 

50 YEARS AGO

A son was born today at Falls Memorial Hospital to Mr. and Mrs. Donald Petman, 8 pounds, 9 ounces.

John Moore, former School District 361 vocal music instructor, is enjoying a vacation in Borderland as a guest of Mr. and Mrs. Jim Larson, 1123 Eighth Ave. “It’s nice to be back,” said the visitor from Lansing, Mich.

Airman First Class Gerald E. Mathews of the Falls has completed the United States Air Force Course for technical instructors at Amarillo Air Force Base, Texas. The airman, son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Mathews, 814 11th St., is a graduate of Falls High School.

Thomas H. Raymond, son of Mr. and Mrs. Maurice F. Raymond, 407 Seventh St., received his master of arts in teaching degree from Oberlin College, Ohio, on June 11.

A daughter was born today at Falls Memorial Hospital to Mr. and Mrs. Dallas Dwinells, Island View Route, weight, 7 pounds, 6 ounces. Name chosen, Janet Marlene.

Eighteen guests helped Phyliss Skinner celebrate her third birthday at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Melford Skinner, 1314 Seventh ave.

 

70 YEARS AGO

H.J. Mills was guest of honor at a birthday party last evening at his home in Ranier.

Mrs. LaVern Gowan left this morning for Milwaukee. She will visit her husband at Great Lakes, Ill., before returning.

A group of friends surprised Mrs. Al Schneider on her birthday, assembling at her home for an informal party.

Mr. and Mrs. John M. Parsons entertained at their home at 1107 Eighth St. Sunday afternoon in honor of the birthday anniversary of their son, Easton Parsons.
