The children of Otto and Margaret (Peggy) Clarity invite all friends and relatives to an open house in honor of their 50th wedding anniversary on June 28, 2 to 5 p.m. at the Jeannine Nelson residence, Point O’Pines.

There were 150 descendants of the Rollie Crawford family who gathered for a reunion at Ranier Hall recently. There were four generations attending.

Pamela Bilben, assistant director and head teacher at the Northland Day Activity Center for the past year, has accepted a teaching position at Chetek, Wis.

The new hockey coach at Rainy River State Junior College will be James M. Thompson, the athletic director, George Schlieff, today announced.

Mr. and Mrs. LeMar S. Dornhecker, residents of the community for the past six years, departed Sunday for their new home in Oregon.

 

50 YEARS AGO

Boy Scouts Joe Ludwig, Billy Johnson, Edward Anderson and James Scheela were initiated into the Order of the Arrow at Camp Wichingen, near Hibbing.

A girl was born today at Falls Memorial Hospital to Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Tveit, 7 pounds, 1 ounce.

Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Scharf, Squaw Lake, have purchased the Ray Standard Service Station from George Long.

Orson William, son of Mr. and Mrs. Orson Sharpe, 111 Park Ave., celebrated his fourth birthday with a “splash” party. His nine small guests wore bathing suits and played in the backyard pool.

Miss Evalace Sture and Mrs. Jean Frohrip of Falls Senior High School staff and Mrs. Ellen Murray of Indus High School attended the week-long reading conference held at Concordia College, June 18-22.

 

60 YEARS AGO

Mrs. Fred Glava was honored at a stork shower at her home, Ninth Avenue and 13th Street. Mrs. Tom Sawchuk, Mrs. Peter Fichuk and Mrs. Wilfred Rosten were hostesses.

Mrs. John Sweney of Ranier was guest of honor at a stork shower at the home of Mrs. Leonard Nord, 813 Eighth St.

About 20 neighbors of Mrs. Carl Pipar, 718 Eighth St., called at her home Wednesday afternoon for a housewarming party. Mr. and Mrs. Pipar and children, Marlene, 8, and Gertrude, 1 1/2, came from Hanover, Germany, in March and moved to the Falls last month.

Mr. and Mrs. H.R. Trask, 1019 Sixth St., will celebrate their 54th wedding anniversary Sunday with a family dinner at their home. Their children are assisting with arrangements for the 5 o’clock event.

 

70 YEARS AGO

Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Viger, 1217 First Ave. E, announce the marriage of their daughter, Mildred Tschabold, to Conrad Underdahl, son of Mr. and Mrs. H. Oustad of this city. The marriage was performed June 22 in this city.

Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Pelland of Pelland announce the marriage of their daughter, Callesta, to Joseph Belanger, son of Sam Belanger. The ceremony was read at the Zion Lutheran parsonage June 26 by the Rev. R.O. Evans.

Mrs. Charles Walsh, of Jameson Addition, who will leave tomorrow for Portland, Ore., to join her husband and make her home, was guest of honor at a farewell party at the James Hazen home.

Mr. and Mrs. Joe Johnson of Jameson Addition announce the birth of a son today at the Laurion Maternity Home.
