After 47 years at the Erickson Funeral Home in Littlefork, Hylda Erickson is retiring.
Sue Eisenzoph, daughter of Irene Eisenzoph of International Falls, has had a 4.0 grade point average for the whole year at Brown Institute in Minneapolis. She is majoring in electronics and will graduate next March.
40 YEARS AGO
Keith Goulet, cashier, joins some 140 Minnesota bankers attending the seventh session of the Minnesota School of Banking this week on the campus of St. Olaf College in Northfield.
Jeffery Buchholz, D.D.S., will join T.L. Kalar, D.D.S., Wednesday in his dental practice in International Falls.
Dave Steiner, D.V.M., opens practice today at Falls Veterinary Clinic on Highway 53 in South International Falls.
50 YEARS AGO
Mrs. Marian Drummond, whose husband, the late J.H. Drummond, was the first clerk of court with the organization of Koochiching County in 1906, celebrated her 80th birthday Tuesday, three days ahead of the actual date.
Mr. and Mrs. James J. Turry, 412 Sixth St., celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Sunday at a high noon mass at St. Thomas Church at which they renewed their marriage vows and received the papal blessing.
Two new pharmacists have joined the staff of City Drug store, it was announced by Ellsworth Anderson, owner of the local pharmacy. The two are Dennis R. Frank, a native of St. Cloud, and Russell Hanover, a native of the Falls and son of Dr. and Mrs. R.D. Hanover.

Two border area youths who recently completed an eight-week field radio operator course at the signal school of San Diego Marine Base are Pfc. Eugene C. O’Brien and Pfc. Thomas L. McMahan.
Mrs. Minnie Sorquist of Wildwood was honored by about 40 ladies of the Northome area at a birthday party in the home of her daughter, Mrs. Henry Ettestad. Mrs. Sorquist is 81.
Mr. and Mrs. Knute Beck celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary Saturday evening at a party in Wildwood Hall. Shirley Beck and Mrs. Frank O’Loughlin were in charge of arrangements.

Pvt. Herman Weberg likes it fine at Lubbock, Texas, where he is assigned to 502nd School Squadron at Lubbock Army Flying School.
Mrs. Dan O’Handley was guest of honor at a surprise birthday party at the C.B. Mickelson home. Hostesses were Mrs. Mickelson and Miss Dorothy Michelson.
Reuben Lewis of Holler, who underwent an operation at Northern Minnesota Hospital June 27, is getting along nicely.
James Devereau, who resides on Rainy Lake, is a patient in Eitel Hospital in Minneapolis. He is getting along well but would appreciate hearing from his friends.
