An open house will be held June 11 to honor Mr. and Mrs. Hilmer Rud, lifetime residents of Birchdale, on their 50th wedding anniversary.

Miss Elvera Carlson of Duluth arrived to assume her new position as assistant librarian in charge of the junior room of the public library.

Mrs. Eva Volkov, who will leave soon for Eureka, Calif. to spend several months with her son, Alec, was guest of honor at a surprise party at the Ukrainian Hall.

Paul Kelly, well-known employee of the Rex Tavern, will leave this evening for Nenana, Alaska, where he will be employed in the construction of a government air base.

Bonnie Verle are the names chosen by Mr. and Mrs. Henry Sather, 721 Fifth St., for their daughter born today at the Laurion Maternity Home.
