Sean Gates, 17-year-old son of Jodi Jourdan, has been selected 1987 Boy Stater and Klaus Schumacher, 17-year-old son of Harold and Carol Schumacher, has been selected alternate by the American Legion Post 66.

Kristen Bradseth, who will be a senior at Falls High School this fall, won the second annual state Pro-Life Oratory contest conducted recently at the College of St. Thomas in St. Paul.

Patrick Roche Jr., 29, of Anoka, has been appointed to perform the legal services required to conduct business in Koochiching County including the processing of criminal matters. Roche’s appointment will be effective July 1 and he will serve in that capacity until final action of the board to fill the unexpired term of county attorney, the late Eugene Williamson.

Cynthia Huse, of Trimont, has been appointed to the full-time position of Koochiching County home economist.

Don Ewald, son of Mr. and Mrs. Woodrow Ewald, Airport Road, will be installed as master councilor of MacNeil Chapter, Order of DeMolay, during ceremonies conducted at 6:30 o’clock this evening in the Masonic Temple.

Mr. and Mrs. Donald Larson of Mizpah announce the approaching marriage of their daughter, Kay Norma, to John Siats, son of Mr. and Mrs. Sylvester Siats of Mizpah.

A reception and dance at the South International Falls Village Hall Saturday evening honored Mr. and Mrs. Walter Glowack. The occasion was the 30th wedding anniversary of the Glowacks.

Geraldine Green celebrated her 18th birthday Friday evening at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Lindvall, 318 Seventh St., at a family party.

Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Mannausau, Crystal Beach, entertained Sunday at a picnic dinner in honor of their son, Darryl, who was 10.

A daughter was born today at Falls Memorial Hospital to Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Ludwig, 1108 Ninth St., weight, 6 pounds, 2 ounces. Name chosen, Janice Susan.

About 50 friends and relatives met at the Odd Fellows Hall to honor Mrs. Alvin Peggar, South International Falls, at a farewell party. Mrs. Peggar and children, Sheila, Neil and David, will leave Thursday for Los Angeles, Calif., to join Mr. Peggar, who has been employed there for the past year.

Kathryn Rauscher, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Nick Rauscher, 517 Fifth St., has arrived home from Winona where she is a student at St. Teresa College.

Mrs. Cyril Walker, South International Falls, was honored at a stork shower in her home. Hostesses were Mrs. Mark McBride, Mrs. Emil Kalar, Mrs. Gordon Sinclair, Mrs. Richard Walker, Mrs. Kenneth Walker and Mrs. Ted Arnold.

Chet Lindvall, who will leave for Fort Snelling Thursday to be inducted into the U.S. Army, was guest of honor at a party Sunday at the lake home of Mr. and Mrs. Walter E. Olson, Black Bay.

Mrs. Jack Bennington was guest of honor at a birthday party Monday afternoon. Hostesses were Mrs. Fred Charlton, Mrs. Clayton Blake and Miss Jeanne Bennington.

Harry Dybvig, Chamber of Commerce secretary and prominent in civic and lodge affairs, left for Superior, Wis., where he will be manager of the Superior office of Employers Mutual, a well-known Wausau, Wis., insurance firm.

New officers of the 4-H Club at Ericsburg are: Clyde Caple, president; Ardath Merrill, vice president; Romele Tessier, secretary; Patricia Merrill, treasurer; and June Taxearhis, reporter.
